Where to stay when you first arrive in Gerona

I stayed in RESA Campus de Montilivifor 2 months before moving out to live in an apartment. I am thankful to say it was a great experience.

Here are some advantages and disadvantages of staying there:

  • Disadvantages:

    • The biggest disadvantage is that the price of the room is quite high compared to the average price of rooms in Gerona. If you consider the facilities included in the price, it is definitely cheaper than staying in apartment because apartment in Gerona does not have facilities like gym, table tennis, etc.

  • Advantages:

    • Time saving: if you are new to Gerona, you don’t want to spend time on searching the accommodation, you can stay in the residence first.

    • Safety: if you are worried about the safety when moving to a new country, it would be a good choice for you.

    • Facility (gym, table tennis, etc): it is one of the biggest advantages that made me decide to stay there at the first place. Gym memberships in Gerona are also quite high and apartment in Gerona does not have its own gym.

The residence hall has the following common areas:

      • TV and DVD room

      • Study rooms

      • Games room

      • Gym

      • Parking lot

      • Laundry room

      • Terrace

      • Daily press

      • Vending service

      • Internet connection with wifi

It is really interesting that I even found some paintings on the wall that looked like my friend’s painting style. My friend was really pleased to see those paintings that inspired him a lot.

I and my German brother would play table tennis every night around 1 hour. What can be better by doing exercise and build up your friendship.

I also learned to play POOL there. My teacher was a friend coming from France who lived there.

    • Networking of friends: if you look for networking with international friends that is the place. I got my closest friend from Bulgaria, my German brother by living there.

    • Good location:

      • It takes 5 minutes to go by bike and 10 minutes to walk to Montilivi Campus. At that time, all of my classes were in Montilivi Campus so living nearby there was a great way to save time.

      • The residence is also close to 2 super markets where you can buy fresh vegetables and food.

      • It is located in a small hill with lots of trees surrounded so the first time when I arrived, I thought I went to live in a far-flung place. Take the advantage of it, I would run every morning and then go to the gym. I loved the air and clean street there.

      • It is nearby a stadium and there are quite a lot of matches between local teams or sometimes big team playing there.

      • It takes 15 minutes by bike to go to the city centre where you can enjoy night life of Gerona.

If I had to choose again, I would still have chosen to stay there for 1 or 2 months.

You can consider your priority and make a decision where to stay.

And remember, no matter where you are going to stay, the most important thing is to be aware, open and appreciate everything there to make the best use of the opportunity. And then you will have a great experience.
