Malgrat del Mar and Costa Brava experience
Have you ever heard of Costa Brava? I have. Actually, I was there yesterday. But this trip can not be considered as a normal trip at all, because I got there from Barcelona city centre by hitchhiking! It was so exciting! Tempertures reached a really high peak and i did not notice any sign of wind. So for me, really exhaustive conditions. Moreover, the asphalt was so burning, that I felt sometimes like in sauna. From the beginning, it took a time to find an applicable place for catching cars and merciful riders. Surprisingly, we stayed nearby rubbish bins and it was maybe the best place we could choose, because it was placed on the exits from car park. Cars were going really slowly and they were able to notice us and stop in front of us. When one man stopped directly in front of us, we agreed on that he looks nice and serisously and that it was safe to travel with him in such a long distances. It turned out that he is the owner of one trffic stall and sells cigarettes. But as i wrote before, he looked decently and in addition, he had a lot of experiences with travelling. So we got in his car and accompanied him for 20 kilometres. As time passed, we managed to stop two more riders. But that was al.l From five o´clock p.m. (maybe it is a cursed time for hitchhiking), noone stopped in order to take us to Girona or Costa Brava beaches. So we decided to take a train.But... We did not plan our route adequately. So when we got into the train, we started to estranged from our desired beaches, but then, suddenly, the public transpodr changed the direction and we travelled to unknown location. It was like a jungle, rainforest or mountains. There were no houses and buildings surrounding us. And our shared passengers were black people! Moreover, they did not seem mannered at all. They were laughing, listening to loud rude hip hp music, making noise and disturbing other passengers. I felt so relieved when they got out from the train. When we finally caught the right train to maret del mar and costa vrava, it was around half past eight. The city was amazing, there were so many touristic attractions, amusement parc, bars, restaurants, surf rental shops… And the sea was so clear and calm. I decided to swim, when the sun went down. It was so romantic. Afterwards, we decided to create a comfortable place for sleeping. It was not easy at all. There were so many mosquitos, ants, and other kinds of insects who tried to bite and attack us during all the night that it was unable to fall asleep. In addition, one hundred meters from us there was a disco which played a really loudly techno up to three o'clock a.m. We started to get angry and nervous. Could you imagine it? A couple, sleeping on the blanket on the beach sand, with the usage of only one sleeping bag...Discos and bars screaming nearby, drunken tourists ib the night beach, and plenty of insects trying to attack us. I think it is impossible to fal asleep in such conditions for most of the people. When we discussed our situation, we arranged to get up, walk around the city, bars and restaurants until the first train to our home destination near Barcelona will arrive. And we do so. It was so tedious. But we survived these conditions. And for the next time, we told us we must improve our hitching skills, we must plan our trip better and importantly, to make more comfortable sleeping place with a tent, antimosquito spray and one sleeping bag extra.
