Erasmus Experience in Girona, Spain by Pierre-Francois
Why did you choose to go to Girona, Spain?
I wanted to experience Spain while being close to France.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Girona to other students?
I would definitely recommend the city.
What is the food like?
Food is nice, of good quality and fresh. Discovering the catalan style is worth going there.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Girona?
Girona is quite an expensive city. One of the most expensive in the country.
How much does it cost to live in Girona?
If you can manage to find a roommate, the price of transport and food are cheap enough.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
I'd recommend learning some Catalan. That will break the ice with the locals.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Girona from your city?
Plane by Ryanair or bus.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Girona?
City center. There you'll be walking distance from anything, bars, tapas, Irish pub, clubs...
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Girona in the future?
Don't be put off by the seemingly cold attitude the catalans can have. If you are interested in their culture, they'll be very welcoming.
