It's very varied, there are people from lots of different countries and from other parts of Germany, it's actually strange to meet a student from Freiburg there.

Yes, Freiburg is a small to medium sized city which you'll feel comfortable in very quickly and where you'll get to know a lot of people. Besides, being that it's a university city, there are a lot of cafeterias and pubs. There are a lot of young people in the streets and it's a pretty city, with some amazing views being so close to the Black Forest.

It's abundant above all, the portions are huge in Germany, but the food, in general, is delicious. There's not as much variety as there is in Spain, but it's good here and a lot of things are potato based.

Through the university, they take care of everything and they got me an apartment in a residence.

Hotels and other kinds of accommodation are expensive, in fact the prices are pretty high. By contrast, the prices of the residences or renting a room or a flat are decent and perfectly affordable.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

German is difficult, it's best to go there knowing how to speak it or with some kind of basic level of knowledge, if you can't, it's not hard to get by since people there speak English. At any rate, the university offers German courses for foreign students, some for free and some not, but even then they're cheap. There are also a lot of academies that offer courses that are affordable and very highly subscribed.

What is the cheapest or easiest way to get to Freiburg im Breisgau from your home city?

There are EasyJet flights to Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg international airport from Madrid and when you get out of the French terminal, there are buses to Freiburg, which take less than an hour.

I'd recommend you learn a bit of German before you come here, it's important for daily life and you'll be able to interact with the German students and not just always end up in a group of people from your home country.
