Why did you choose to go to Florence, Italy?

I am studying Interior Design here (Bachelor degree)

What is the student lifestyle like in Florence?

I feel like it is a different experience for every individual depending on their approach to the city and activities. It is extremely suitable for students in terms of getting around the city considering you can get everywhere by foot.

What is the food like?

You cannot get sick of pasta and pizza here, every restaurant I have been to here was great including sandwiches/pizzas in small cafeterias. I would however recommend the restaurants further away from the main tourist attractions as they tend to be over priced compared to ones that might even be better which are further off.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Florence?

There are actually a solid amount of sites online (including this one) where you can find a place within your budget, whether it is a private/shared room or a studio. there is also the student hotel and campusX which I would recommend for the beginning as you can move in with people you know later on.

How much does it cost to live in Florence?

Depending on your lifestyle and what you like to do in your spare time it varies. I mostly only go out on the weekends and eat in though out the week, the bars/clubs are a bit pricey and the good clubs (usually only open during summer season) are away from the center so transport need to be considered too. To enjoy the city you really do not need to spend a lot, just walking around with a gelato/panini and enjoying the views can full-fill a day if you're not keen on spending loads on restaurants and entry fees.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I do have an Italian class included but it is only an hour during the week so it helps a little but I definitely need to go at least 4 times a week to start speaking. Personally I am finding it hard because my University (FIDI) is an English speaking Uni so I do not hear much Italian on a day to day basis

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Florence from your city?

I live 10 minutes from the city center so a tram/walking

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Florence?

I prefer the bars over the clubs as they can get super packed and stuffy with alcohol which often leaves you feeling very ill after whereas in a nice bar I feel great, with more space and the possibility to socialize

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Florence?

My go to restaurant when im taking a friend out or craving a nice steak I would highly recommend "Trattoria Pizzeria da Nasone", a very welcoming family restaurant with amazing food/prices

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

My favorite site is walking by the river with the view of the other side, swell as the smaller squares such as santo spirito

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Florence in the future?

Personally with the workload from my uni I dont find myself going out much currently (maybe because of the cold weather now too) so I would advise you as well as myself to really try and make the most out of meeting great new people and discovering the city together and finding your own personal spots which will stuck in your memory as "good times"
