Erasmus Experience in Florence, Italy by Aida
Why did you choose to go to Florence, Italy?
Out of the options that I had, it was a much prettier city than the others I was offered and it has the most amazing things to visit.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
The scholarship was for three months and, after I'd paid for my flight and my flat, I had €1300 of the grant left (and I got another €900 when I got home).
What is the student lifestyle like in Florence?
I'm not sure, I came to do an internship at a company.
Would you recommend the city and the University of FLorence to other students?
I would recommend the city, absolutely.
What is the food like there?
I don't have to tell you much about Italian food... it's unreal.
Was it difficult to find accommodation in Florence?
No, the Academia Europea de Firenze found a place for me (I had to pay €470 in fees for them to do so, of course... ).
How much does it cost to live in Florence?
For me, a shared room cost €130 per person a week, but that's the price the Florence European Academy charges for all of its flats.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the university?
The language isn't as much like Spanish as people say, but you can get it in a couple of weeks... I didn't go on any course in person, only the one online (OLS), which honestly wasn't of any use to me.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Florence from your home city?
By plane.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
All of Florence is beautiful...
