Why did you choose to go to Ferrara, Italy?

I wanted a small and a new city.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

It lasts 5 months. I receive 285€ monthly.

What is the student lifestyle like in Ferrara?

Very social. There are many events, cosy streets, a lot of bars and a lot of students.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Ferrara to other students?

Yes, for sure!

What is the food like?

Typical italian food and ferrarese cuisine. And it is not so expensive for the quality.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Ferrara?

A little bit of time because it was only for 5 months and not for a whole year.

How much does it cost to live in Ferrara?

It really depends on location and owner.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

I don't know because I had studied the language before for a couple of years. But of course there are language courses available, and you can also have a 'language tandem' to improve your language.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Ferrara from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Ferrara?

Via Carlo Mayr is a street with plenty of bars, very crowded especially on Wednesdays. One stupid thing: the bars close around 2 am. You have 2 clubs to go to: Renfe (just outside the walls) and College.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Ferrara?

  • Trattoria da Noemi is one of the best!
  • Pizzeria Estebar
  • Pizzeria il Ciclone

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

  • Il Castello (medieval castle).
  • Il Cimetero Ebraico (historical cemetery).
  • Piazza Ariostea.
  • Parco Urbano.
  • Piazza Trento e Triëste.
  • Le mura (the walls).
  • You can do different walking tours on the walls and in the old city center.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Ferrara in the future?

Perfect city, not too small, not too big. You can do almost everything on foot, although it's better going to the clubs by bike. The city is very lively, at the weekend it is always very crowded. And it has the perfect location to visit another nice cities by train or by FlixBus: Verona, Modena, Venezia, Bologna, Parma, Ravenna, Padova...
