Praia da Rocha

If you happen to be in Portugal during summer you must go to Algarve, in the south. It is a place with paradisiac beaches, surrounded by cliffs and with clean blue water. 

The biggest city in Algarve is Faro, and it has many nice beaches such as Praia da Rocha in the region of Portimão. It is a long and really beautiful beach. Great for sunbathing, swimming and chilling. 

The water is a little bit cold (but not as much as the rest of the country) but it is so beautiful you'll forget about the temperature. Clear, calm and caribean blue, that's what it looks like. 

Like most beaches in Algarve, Praia da Rocha is surrounded by rocks and cliffs. They make the scenery really unique and beautiful. You can climb some of this rocks to get to another part of the beach, with more natural beauty. 

You can walk the whole beach and you'll fall in love every step you take, finding out another beautiful sightseen there. I am certainly in love with Praia da Rocha. 

What else to do

Just on the beach shore you'll find many stores, restaurants and bars to eat and buy things. I reccomend you to have some ice cream there, while admiring the view to the sea. 

Also, during the night, the street gets really cheered up with bars and clubs. Great place for partying!

When to go

The best time in the year to visit Algarve is during the summer or beggining of autumn (from June to October), when it's less crowded and still hot. Most of the days are sunny during the year, but it's best to go while the temperatures are good to enjoy the beach. 

There are also other cities in Algarve with outstanding landscapes, the most beautiful in my opinion is Lagos. Just 30 minute drive from Portimão. Visit it!
