What is it like to live in Eskisehir? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

It is like living in the best city, especially for students. I was a student almost for 8 years including my master and I had memories and a beautiful life. Most people living in Eskişehir are students. So you never fail to have a new friendship. The city is not so big. This means you can walk everywhere or you can use the tram, which is preferred over buses.

What is the student lifestyle like in Eskisehir?

It really is crazy most of the time. When you walk in the streets you never see older people, well maybe you will, but they are students too.

How much does it cost to live in Eskisehir?

It doesn't cost much, but it depends on what and how you want to live. Students take an apartment and then share the payment. For example my last one was 500 TL and I had a roommate so we shared it. But this one was expensive. You can find a house costs 500 TL but share it with 3-4 people. So it costs almost nothing when you compare it with İstanbul.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Eskisehir? Is there any advice you can give?

It can be difficult sometimes, especially the registration week and after that week it gets more difficult. But if everything is ok best time to search for an accommodation is June and February, I guess. Because students graduate and leave the house, they sell the stuff with a good price.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is good too, I ordered a lot and you can order your meal anytime you want. I mean even at 2 a. m. This is the best! Eskişehir has its special meals but I recommend you to eat Tantuni, Donas, Çi Börek and to drink Boza.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

There aren't many places to visit, but there are some. Kent Park, Aqua Park, some museums, ect. There is a street called Barlar Sokağı, it means Street of Pubs. Anytime, any day you can see that it is full.

Is it good to eat out in Eskisehir? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

As I have written, it is good. There is this website called Yemeksepeti.com. You can enter choose the city you live and search for the meal. You don't even have to go out, you can see the prices, whether the spot is open or not.

Is the nightlife good in Eskisehir? Where is good to go?

Barlar Sokağı is always active. Go there and have a drink. As a sophisticated spot I can recommend you to visit Del Mundo, close to Barlar Sokağı. It really is cool! And there are lots of Erasmus students in there. You can also have a drink in Bezgin.

What advice would you give future students heading to Eskisehir?

Eskişehir is a nice city, if you can figure out how to spend your time in there, it would be your best! Lots of students and lots of parties and drinks! Please contact with the ESN team in Eskişehir. I had many experiences in Eskişehir, don't hesitate to text me for any advice. If you decide to live in a house Anadolu University also helps you to find one, but students in this city love foreign students. So watch your back and have fun!
