Why did you choose to go to Emmen, Netherlands?

Exactly. I did not choose Emmen for something in particular. I wanted to know the Netherlands for its culture, however my university only gave me the opportunity to go to Emmen.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

In my case, I will be from September to June, all year. However, there are people who only stay a semester, that is until January. As for the money, the university of Pais Vasto gives us a scholarship of € 200 per month, and within the Emmen University you have € 200 to carry out activities organized by the university. But it's only for Erasmus students.

What is the student lifestyle like in Emmen?

In Emmen there is not much to do. It is a very quiet and pleasant place. At first it seems that there is nothing but now I love living here. Students usually go to the gym and at night they take a bus to party. As for the gym, the university offers students a card for € 80 a year, and you can go as many times as you want and whenever you want. it is a big advantage.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Emmen to other students?

Yes. It is a great university and above all it is a quiet and pleasant place. Although at the beginning you think otherwise, then you get used to it and the students make their own parties.

What is the food like?

The food is very good, even the price. I have tried typical things and this is great.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Emmen?

I currently live in a fairly large residence (studentstay) for € 400 per month. But there is an area called Angeslo that there are apartments for € 300.

How much does it cost to live in Emmen?

It is not so expensive. For my it is really similar of Spain. For example for food, I spend 20-25€ per week.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

yes. And then, at the university you cn learn spanish, dutch, français, or german.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Emmen from your city?

The train is a little bit expensive and is teh only way to travek to Emmen. You have to go to Amsterdam by plane and then the train.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Emmen?

Groningen.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Emmen?

In Emmen you have a lot of restaurant, but the italian restaurant are so good.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Emmen is small, but the center is very typical and there is a zoo that is the largest of the Netherlands and is impressive.
