What is it like to live in Eindhoven? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

The city has nothing to do with architecture or history. The people of Eindhoven are really nice and that is why they call people from Eindhoven ¨the craziest¨ in the Netherlands. The city is not too big and not too small. It is an industrial city combined with some modern architecture.

What is the student lifestyle like in Eindhoven?

We got one University in Eindhoven; Technical University of Eindhoven. Which is a great university if you are good with in calculations! Besides the University, we also have a big street named Stratum (remember the name) which has a lenght of approx. 1km. In this street you can find +35 Pubs, so there is always a pub which will suit your criteria.

How much does it cost to live in Eindhoven?

In Eindhoven you can have a shared house or shared apartment for 300-400 Euro, which are most often especially for students. If you want to have an apartment/studio yourself it will cost approx. 550+. Recently the Student Hotel built a really large hotel in the middle of the centre, which is perfect for new students. It is an hotel with rooms and studio's for long and short stay.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Eindhoven? Is there any advice you can give?

It is not really hard to find a room in Eindhoven. The hardest part is to find a room with roommates who are interested in international students. Like I already mentioned, the Student Hotel is a perfect place to stay. It is located near the Central Train station, 300m from the University and you will also get a bike (included in the rent). The only disadvantage is that is may be a little costly.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

My favourite dish is Italian food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Eindhoven?

I would recommend to go to Stratum, City centre, Strijp S, coffeeshops, Aqua Best (near Eindhoven), PSV (local football club), Glow-in-the-dark midgetgolf, Escape Room and they should definitely try a festival because the Dutch DJs are really good.

Is it good to eat out in Eindhoven? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Eindhoven is not a really large city so you can not expect that there will be a place to eat on every corner. The Dommelstraat, the Market Square, Wilhelmina Square, Kleine Berg and Strijp-S are definitely the hotspots of Eindhoven.

Is the nightlife good in Eindhoven? Where is good to go?

As I have mentioned above, the nightlife in Eindhoven is fully centred around Stratum. All the pubs are open until 04:00 during the weekend and Thursday till 02:00 (students will be partying here during the week).

What advice would you give future students heading to Eindhoven?

If you are going to Eindhoven for a short period, you should book a room at the Student Hotel. The hotel gives you an opportunity to stay for a long and short period and registration is possible as well. A lot of students will be living in the Student Hotel, especially international students. So if you want to make international friends, you should definitely go there.
