Why did you choose to go to Eindhoven, Netherlands?
Netherlands is always a good places to live for foreigners because people speak English and are respectful towards other nationalities. In fact, I think the Netherlands is the best choice for those who want to live in Europe.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
It's around 6 months but I want to extend it to 10 months. I receive 400€ per month.
What is the student lifestyle like in Eindhoven?
They give importance to their lessons, but they never miss a party, they always go out to Stratumseind for partying from Thursday to Saturday.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Eindhoven to other students?
I recommend it because it's good for a student. Eindhoven is a modern city; it doesn't have those old buildings or architecture, but it has its own airport and has Ryanair flights, which are the cheapest. Besides, it's close to beautiful cities like Amsterdam, Brussels, Brugge, Dusseldorf, Rotterdam, and Cologne. Therefore, I recommend it.
What is the food like?
You can find restaurantes with food from all around the world in Eindhoven.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Eindhoven?
No, but I had to pay the agency one month of rent.
How much does it cost to live in Eindhoven?
It costs around 800€, accommodation and fun included.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
We have Dutch or English lessons, but if you want to learn Dutch, it's better to take a course from outside first.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Eindhoven from your city?
I came from Istanbul. The cheapest way to go to Eindhoven is to buy a Transavia Airlines ticket from SAW to EIN.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Eindhoven?
I recommend Stratumseind, since it is one of the biggest bar street in the Netherlands. Added to this, Effenaar is a also a good option to enjoy concerts or attend different events.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Eindhoven?
I recommend Happy Italy or Vapiano, two Italian restaurants. Their food is actually delicious and cheap.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
The Bergen area, the marketplace, Blobs, and Sint-Catharinakerk.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Eindhoven in the future?
I know Eindhoven a bit boring during the week, but for living as a student, it's good. I recommend it.
