Why did you choose to go to Eindhoven, Netherlands?
My professor proposed me to go to NL to develop my master thesis project.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I am staying here for 6 months, the scholarship is about 300 euros per month but the rent is quite expensive (400 euros) and my parents are helping me.
What is the student lifestyle like in Eindhoven?
Simply amazing. During the weekend, starting from Thursday to Saturday every pub has a party, the drinks are really cheap and you meet lot of people.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Eindhoven to other students?
Yes, sure.
What is the food like?
If you like fried things it is heaven. Actually I don't like it so much but the sweet and desert are also full of sugar but amazing.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Eindhoven?
Yes, i chose the wrong period to look for an accommodation. In August is quite difficult to find because of the start of the course.
But then i have heard from other people that it was not difficult for them after.
How much does it cost to live in Eindhoven?
The rental cost starts from 350 to 500 euros. Going out is not so expensive and maybe the supermarkets are a little bit.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
All Dutch people speak English. They have courses of Dutch as well if you want.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Eindhoven from your city?
Not so easy, no direct flight from Puglia to Eindhoven, the closest airport is Brindisi.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Eindhoven?
Stratumseind, it is a street full of pubs, parties and people.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Eindhoven?
If you like Italian food Vapiano is good and not so expensive, if you like Thai food Soho is OK or nevertheless you can take some krokets or frikadel form the vending machines in fast food places around the city just inserting coins.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
I liked too much the Van Abbenmuseum, then all the city around here like Maastricht, Utrecht and of course Amsterdam.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Eindhoven in the future?
Enjoy totally the city, it is amazing!
