Experience in Dusseldorf, Germany by Tim
What is it like to live in Düsseldorf? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Düsseldorf is not a typical student town. The university grounds are located at the outside of the town and as soon as you leave them you just feel like in any other big town. In cause of that, the prices are high as normal but fortunately, you enjoy all the benefits of a big town, e. g. shopping (Kö) and party (Heinrich-Heine-Allee).
What is the student lifestyle like in Düsseldorf?
If you live in student housing, you get your part of student life. If not than you better know someone who does live with other students.
How much does it cost to live in Düsseldorf?
I would guess you could get by for 400€ (including rent of student housing) but I would recommend at least 500€ and if you want to go partying and if you won't live in student housing, up to 1000€.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Try the restaurants in the Heinrich-Heine-Allee. There a few really good ones.
Is it good to eat out in Düsseldorf? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
The mensa of the uni is really cheap. I ate there on a daily basis. And for the evening go to Heinrich-Heine-Allee.
Is the nightlife good in Düsseldorf? Where is good to go?
Yes, but only Heinrich-Heine-Allee and nearby from it. But other big towns are easy to travel to.
