Great time of my life in USA

I am going 1st write in my blog  about nice time,and spent it in USA, I wase coming with cargo ship from Liverpool, UK to Mobile, Alabama, very young a bit more then 21, and at that cuity ship stay ome month out of that 10 days we all stay in nice hotel.

Few days after we came , arrived, accross Atlantic I went with 2 more  fellow out to night life. I love very much country music and only when in U.S.A. am going to country disqoteque, my favorite singer was and still is johny Cash or man in the black,I know he died but his voice when heared 1st time is so specific that will never forget as love song of this humble man. when 1st time i hear his voice cannot never forget  it.

So that night we were three of us from ship and we  went to really big country club  it was weekend, place almost full, most men in Stetson hat and Texas Durango boots. Quickly we split andmy attention atract one very beautiful girl was sitting with another girllfriend.  I was thinking way of aproaching  then suddenly without hesutation went straight to their table, and  polite  ask them , saying Hi. do you mind if i buy you some drink and have a sit with you for a while and chat a bit with you.

They start laughing as  by my accent they realizedI am not from USA and say sure, and become so nice she especialy and curious join us, i introduced myself told them how beeautiful they are special attention pay to one which realyI attracted me on the spot as she was so cute, and very nice and polite girl.

At one moment start one country dance and she ask me shall we dance , but i say but I do not know this is from Wild West some folk, as saw how others dance, she start laughing and say yes you are right thats old Chicago come, Niksa, its very simple i will show you, people men and womwn on dancing floor made  round ring then clap hand with music tacts and turn to their dancing partner and two turn around it is old and i manage not so god, but she was happy, I saw in her eyes and my heart start beating that was thinking Sharon as her name was will hear it, I saw that he enjoyed that we met, and said great, I am having so much fun making cowboy from you, but I laughed and said how come , this is not Texas its on amost border of Florida, and i am so happy when saw how you enjoy

We chat, drank some beer, not much, dance and I told her well would love to stay more with you even if have to walkback without taxi, but of course there is not wise to walk on street plus at night.,

but about at 8 a.m. must be on deck, supervising if they will load cargo operation as was some dispute.  must go to the  ship as was quite late,

Sharon  told me I took car of my dad and with  his licence plate I can take you  in port enter in all the way up to your ship as I understand he is some security and  was exactly as she told me, when say bye, in front of my ship she gave me phone number and say no want loose you so quickly, i say i no want loose you never

she smiled  and  told me I will come tomorrow at 5 p.m. as i understand you will be free. pick you up and show you our house,

she was young same as I working in the bank, I say great but what will your folks will said when i come just like that foreigner I am a bit scared Sharon

again she smile  and  say no worry my father divorce my mother so he is living and i there

he will meet you with no problem as i bring you and i like you to show you my house,and my photos and sometging else, what, it secret you will see tomorrow.

So Sharon came next day aalso with her father car allowing her with plates he used as was some security or so

We went to her house it is quite a while compared with distances in Europe ride , more then hal an hour, I was a bit nervous as she told me relax my father is nice and will meet you as I decide so, I am not bringing home anyone.

So after long drive she parked car in front nice house, so when we entered her father was just haaving some dinner, and told me welcome young man. It was as he know me many years, he exchane some chat I told him from where I am, and that am ship officer and met his beautiful daughter and she invite me to come, he laugh and say no worry relax anyway I will watch some Tv you two make yourself comortable and she will show average American house her rooma nd so.

So we went in her room, she show me album when was kid school what attended, and myn more. I told her you are really not ordinary girl as you invite to your home after such short time we met. She laugh and said , Niksa calm down I no did it with other boys I met, but since you come in Mobile and will be going and i like you want to be with you as much as possible. I said seems long time we are going to sstay here as was some dispute with food cargo aid ffor Angola wher decade was civil war and our next destination. He said nice not war but we can at least be some time together, and time passed so quickly and I remember she told me have surprise to me, ask her what is it and she haave me wrap in celophane some gift and ay open it up, I did and inside was Teddy bear, I laugh and she said this is for your luck from me.

As time was passin quickly and tomorrow I and she has to work in the bank i said have to go and you have also long time to drive back after you leave me at ship entrance and one day come early and I will show  shot and all and she said yes, nice i will come every day at 5 pm pick you up and we shall go arround want to show how we lived here, and that was greatest till now moments in my life.

Eventualy after 15 days cargo of corn but in bags as they have no means to discharge it in bulk, but by crane and many babies in powder milk as aid from USA, bus sinnce we load all and it was food actually plus on deck 10 buses as in USA that school buses.

They made deratisation and almost 10 days all crew stay in very nice hotel, I remember day when Sharon came in hotel we were at dinner she was so happ and jump and hug me, others were looking as who is this beautiful girl Niksa met,

So she was coming every day and sleep in my room I slept on sofa bed and came day of departure what i will never firget, Last time , last nite we went out she say stay here with me. I told her how you mean that is so easy, that I as officer run away from ship, and then what will do, if made such decision and emigration find me as you are not my wife Sharon, what I sta yin your home waiting you as cannot go out, she say you can if we married at once, my god I said you temted me so, you know i like you so much as never met so nice girl but then what i am supposed to do for living, I am ship officer and that is only what I know to do, and on land its not worth much,

She start crying and said yess i know life is writing novel I know you cannot escape on ship as officer and better go now as i know we shall never see each other and i will never forget you. I lightly kiss her on cheek and said bye you will have alway be part of my her by and god bless you and we went from each other,, and I and she know its forever, only i said Teddy bear i will alway keep what you gave me and went away before I break down.

Next day we sail in Angola have to call 4 ports there and was contry in civil waar decades. This is 1st time I saw tha with money almost worthless there is nothing to buy, in fact shops no existed, believe me or not only what you can buy and on the stree is box of 50 matches, yes matches stick to lit fire or your cigare. When we have been at Capital city  Luanda close was Hotel where was meeting of non aligned countries so only there you can for hard curency eat something, or drink beer or anythin and go back on ship.

There I experienced nasty thing as one crew member despite tha daily we take quinine prevention pills he got malaria and that was 1st time I saw how that looks like. Temperature coming over 40°C and more what is enough to kill you, as we no know what to do and despite we close air condition under 5 blankets we cover him he was shaking, we can only rub him all his body so it reduce a bit temperature from that live or not reading, all officers and Caaptain stay with him desperater what to do, then after some time his temperature drop suddenly dow, so it was going from down to that murderous reading of 40°C and more. We saw that in port was one ship from Cuba and Captain send me to ask did they have doctor on board and it happened they have and it was lady , I explain her what is on and we have one man got malaria and will sure die and ther was no any doctor and di she have some medicine to come and help him.

She said yes I have something what will save him and quickly lets go, When we come again he was shiverin, he open her dr. bag take one ijection and injected to him and say this will save him watch him but he will survive and in future , he was some 25 years all his life he will now and then feel it as some common cold nothing more.

Wethank her deeply from our heart if that ship was not theras Cuba was involved there that man will die,
Again it shows how at se no exist any boundaries and we help each other in need

Furter more on my surprise I got one letter from Mobile from Sharon wishing me all best and it was very emotional one as she realized also that we are living in two different world but nevertheles that what happened was great between us as we were so young I was just few months then older then she, from there is not even possible to sent mail, nothing, and we spen in all those ports mostly on anchorage waiting as facility for cargo we damaged by war and was going all so slowly.

God thing was that never I saw so much fish of best quality, what we fish from ship and caught a lot.

As from that nasty malaria I talk with red cross people from Swiss distributing food that time we brought that they are not taking quinine tablets as nobody do that from Europe staying long time as it can destroy your liver, then I ask him what you do to protect you, he said we wear as British before when had colonies short trousers bu long socks up to trousers and long sleeve shirt cap on head and mosquito repelant on face what I use too and you can heat mosquito flying close to you and go away but that last 2 -3 hrs only and you have again smear your face, and best he said is not at all go out after sunset and stay away from any  dirty water as pools  on ground as that is place they gather.

So that is only way to stay away from them
