What is it like to live in Denver? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Denver has a very active and outdoor culture. There is always an activity nearby, in summer there is camping in amazing scenery, floating down rivers to end at a Breckenridge Brewery, (in Denver.) many live music festivals, and hikes galore! There are also many professional sports teams, so year round you can see some professional team play! Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hokey, and American Football. Just 1 hour south is where the winter olympic teams train in Colorado Springs, and also Cheyenne Zoo, and Seven Falls, Garden of the Gods and Old Cololorado City definitley worth a trip. In winter there are many nearby ski towns for skiing, snowboarding, and other snow sports. There are also a few ice festivals in the mountains. This is also the center of micro-brewing and you will find all sorts of amazing flavors and hole-in the wall places. I recommend Bull & Bush brewery near downtown, and also Eidelweiss (go downstairs) in the Springs. For a fun time out with a huge group, check out the Punchbowl!

What is the student lifestyle like in Denver?

I recommend having a way to get around. You will meet amazing people with diverse backgrounds and be tempted to stay on campus, but I recommend you get out and explore!!! It is totally worth it and only a day away from the Grand Canyon!

How much does it cost to live in Denver?

Denver has pretty high average costs compared to most of the mid-west. But it is worth it. it is the center of everything. There are nonstop flights all around the US, and it's on the edge of the Rocky Mountains.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Denver? Is there any advice you can give?

I highly recommend renting a house with multiple other students, instead of a room by yourself. You will save hundreds of dollars.

What places would you recommend visiting in Denver?

MERCURY CAFE!!! Go on a Sunday night, and go upstairs. One of the largest Swing Dance communities in the United States is out of this tiny little dance hall. It's only $10 and you have a free water bar all night and a live band!

Is it good to eat out in Denver? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Hapa Sushi! Shanahans (expensive, but amazing!) There are so many great places, I recommend to just get a foodie app based on your own tastes. I will also throw in there is an amazing Indian/Nepalese restaurant off 32nd called Himchuli.

Is the nightlife good in Denver? Where is good to go?

The punchbowl, Mercury Cafe, down town. Check out Boulder as well!

What advice would you give future students heading to Denver?

Download the Uber App, you will need it get around. Also, things are more spread out in the States, so you can't walk everywhere, make sure to budget for this. Or share a house near campus and buy an electric bike that you sell at the end.
