Second day in Debrecen

The second day in Debrecen was much chiller than the first one, okay never mind my entire stay in Debrecen was chill as hell. I don’t think I have been this well rested in a while. I caught up to all the sleep that I was in debt of. I paid back all of my sleep debt. Now only if I can pay back my student debts, I’d be so totally very happy. But let’s not get into that for now unless you wanna paypal me some money so I can pay back my debts.

The second day here we decided to visit some of the city’s most important landmarks and then we ended up in a shopping center. Yeaps, that’s how we roll. No but seriously we first went to see the University of Debrecen. The medical university of Debrecen is actually one of the oldest universities in Europe and I know what you all are thinking, aren’t all the universities in Europe old as hell? Well yea, a lot of them are but the Medical University of Debrecen gives you some Hogwarts feelings, no joke. It seems more like a museum than a university and eso me encanta!!

Anyways I will write an entire article on the University of Debrecen for those who are interested; and I will mention the application procedures and everything else. For now let’s marvel at how beautiful this university actually is.

It is actually considered one of the most important landmarks of Debrecen. My friend told me that couples that are getting married come to take their wedding pictures in front of this building. My friend had to get some documents and get some other ones signed so we went around the whole university campus. We even checked out every single department, I have to admit what I loved about this university was the fact that all the departments were right next to each other. You have no idea how much more convenient it was to just walk from class to class. Here in Budapest and in my university (Semmelweis University) we have so many different campuses and we literally have to run between our classes. Let’s not get into how hard that is during the winter because I'm going to go on a full on rant.

After getting her stuff done we decided to go to the shopping center because literally and I mean literally everywhere there was hellfire on earth. It was so hot that you could either be by the pool, at home or indoors where you have the comfort of an air conditioner.

The shopping center is called Forum and it wasn’t half as bad. Like I expected a shitty shopping center with even shittier shops but I was wrong. Okay I know I'm mean but I didn’t know. Anyways we went to the shopping center which was accessible by the tram and then by foot. We walked about 2-3 minutes and then voila we were in the comfort of air conditioners.

The shopping center was nothing special to be honest; it was just the same as every other shopping center and like the ones in Budapest. Of course these shopping centers can’t even hold a candle to the ones in Kuala Lumpur or even Tehran.

Anyways we walked about the whole complex for an hour or two; I even shopped quite a bit. They had the last round of the discounts and so I enjoyed it while I could. I shopped from Stradivarius a little and even though the store was smaller than that of Budapest but the items was diverse.

There was a really good food court there and it had all the usual brands such as KFC, MCD, Subway and etc. however we had our mind on sushi so we decided to get some sushi instead. There is a Wasabi sushi in Debrecen as well and we walked for less than 5 minutes to get there.

We didn’t go for the menu option and went for the a la carte option. The menu option includes unlimited amount of sushi and it costs 6500 forints on weekdays and 7500 forints on weekends. When it comes to sushi, I can’t really eat much. I usually eat a roll or two and I'm full as hell. Sushi is one of those foods that I get a craving for once every 3 months and once the craving is satisfied, I don’t think about it for a long long time. Plus I don’t know what is it with sushi that I literally get full after having just a few small ones. Is it because of the rice? I need answers for sure.

Anyways I can definitely vouch for Wasabi, the quality of their sushi is high as it can get. Of course I have never had sushi in japan and so I'm going to refrain from saying this is the best sushi ever. The texture was smooth, the ingredients were fresh and they had the coolest lemonade on earth. For real though, the lemonade was blue and my friend kept joking that it reminded her of the blue lagoon in Croatia. I’ll post pictures of it and you’ll see.

The staffs were well mannered and the food was quickly brought to us, we again devoured it like a bunch of hungry wolves.

That was it for the afternoon; we soon then headed home to rest for a while and then head back out at night. I’ll write about what we did at night in the next entry.

 Hope you enjoy this entry.

Cheers !!
