Why did you choose to go to Czestochowa, Poland?
I came to Czestochowa, since there is a bilateral agreement with my university in Ankara. The other reason is that Poland is a cheap country when you compare with the other European countries and also it is in the middle of Europe and you can travel all over the Europe very easily.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
My scholarship is 3 months. I got 400 Euro per month and it is enough to have a comfortable life in czestochowa.
What is the student lifestyle like in Czestochowa?
Czestochowa is a quite calm city for me since I live in Ankara, it is a huge city when compared to Czestochowa. If you are interested in pubs, clubs and night life you may be disappointed in Czestochowa.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Czestochowa to other students?
I can recommend my university in Czestochowa. It is one of the best university in terms of philology departments and foreign languages.
What is the food like?
My favourite food is pierogi in Poland, it is very delicious for me. Yet, in general foods are not my taste, since I like spicy food.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Czestochowa?
Yes. I pay 300 zloty per month for the student house called as Maluch. I stay with a Polish friend. If you want to stay in a single room, it costs 500 zloty per month.
How much does it cost to live in Czestochowa?
It can change from person to person. Yet, for a student nearly 350-450 euro per month is enough if you do not eat always outside in restaurants.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available in the University?
Polish language is hard for me but I do not speak Polish, mostly in English with my colleagues in the university. There are also language courses in my university to learn Polish.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Czestochowa from your city?
The most economical way to come from Ankara to Czestochowa is first, you should take the plane from Ankara to Vienna and then you can take Polskibus from Vienna to Czestochowa it may cost 10 euro if you buy the bus ticket in advance.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Czestochowa?
I can recommend the night club Don Kichot. You can see other foreigners and also university students living Czestochowa.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Czestochowa?
Topolina is a good place for eating, even if it is not a cheap place for eating, their foods are really delicious, especially their pizza.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Czestochowa is the religious capital of Poland. Thus, Jasna Gora and the portray of Black Madonna is the most important historical place in the city and it is worth seeing.
Is there any other advice that you could give to future students who are going to Czestochowa?
In Czestochowa there are not many things to see, so in order not to get bored, I can recommend future students to travel around Poland and Europe especially via Polskibus, since it is very cheap.
