Situated on a hill 350 meters above sea level, this tiny town whose name you will struggle to pronounce, has been attracting visitors from all over the world.

Mošćenice has a very rich historic heritage. I would definitely single out the the olive mill. The residents used it to produce the olive oil and more importanly for some people,“ rakija“. The local tour guide, if you decide to join the tour will even provide you with a sample shot glass of the same and I can bet you will wish for more. But, do not get drunk please (laughing discretely).

The town comes to life in the summer when the large groups of mostly German and Austrian tourists invade the city. The locals have understood their importance so they decided to open different accomodations, restaurants, ateliers etc.

If you are into photos, check the great view from the local viewpoint names Kosnica (Kost meaning bone in Croatian as it used to be the cementery long time ago). But don’t worry, the place is not haunted (myself laughing again), I haven’t seen any ghost roaming around in 26 years that I have spent here. Moreover, you will be struck with the amazing panorama.

Do give a shot to this lovely town when you are done with main Kvarner sightseein. You will not be sorry. And I am sure you will be back for more rakija again.
