Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Perhaps one of the cities that hasleft me the most beautiful impression was the beautiful Nordic city of Copenhagen. As far as I have researched Copenhagen has the meaning "merchant's harbor" - capital of the Kingdom of Denmark, is a city located on two islands, connected by many bridges and tunnels through the sea. Before that, Copenhagen was just a small village of fishermen.

Farewell to the Swedish capital Stockholm, I gleefully jumped on flixbus trip at 11:10 pm June 10 to Copenhagen.

On June 11, at 6am, our fixbus had entered the outskirts of Copenhagen, and what in front of me was a modern new city from the distance, with large lands. Moreover the city was well-planned and carefully divided into different smaller square lands looked like the chess table.

Looking through these new constructions, I could imagine the city of Copenhagen in the future is going to be very large scalemodern big roads with modern transport system built, and then I thought it was lucky that someone was born in place. Here, he would enjoy a country which is rich in civilization and especially important is that Copenhagen would be not as crowded as my country of Vietnam.

Although I do not deny that crowded population has certain benefits to life, it does not make us lonely. For example, in Vietnam, you will not be lonely when you have family members, relatives, and friends.

“ Yes, that's true, but I'm tired of having to maintain so many blood ties that the conflicts arised from it.”

In a stable society, populated with high education, high income and especially not crowded is always the ideal model of life in Western society.

Then the fixbus bus dropped us at the Koebenhavn Ingerslevsgade bus station, close to the Copenhagen Central Station station area. I was just wondering if the city did not have a central garage or something but fixbus dropped them. I was in such a place.

From here, I decided to walk to Jorgensen Hostel because the distance is only 1.5km.

  1. Copenhagen Central Station

Walking a walk through Copenhagen Central Station, I caught a surprise scene.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

A long line of hundreds of bicycles set up in front of Copenhagen Central Station's main gate; there are all sorts of bikes in large and small sizes, mostly dark in color.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Even some bikes are falling due to the strong wind. However, this made me claim that there is not any bicycle guarding service in the area; people simply leave their bicycles here.

So it was quite early, just 6:30 am, so I decided to take a stroll in the central station.

This is the Copenhagen Central Station, as it is very early in the morning so the station is not crowded, you can see many shops are not open yet, and in the corner of the picture a flower seller is arranging his products. Copenhagen Central Station is located in the heart of the city, bordering to the rough but also trendy Vesterbro. It is a gateway to all public transportation in and out and around Copenhagen.

Here I can find buses, taxis, local S-trains as well as regional trains which will take us to North Sealand, other areas of Denmark, Sweden and most of Europe - and the airport.

Moreover, I knew that Copenhagen Central Station was also home to the Danish Public Transport Corporation DSB's travel agency.

Then I leave the station and continue towards the hostel.

Take a short walk I encountered a beautiful building built pretty nice

  1. 2 Axel Tower

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

This building Axel Towers I also know through, this is a beautiful building built with beautiful design, because I have followed instagma  of a Danish-Vietnamese photographer so I used to look  pictures of this building. If at night the building will certainly be beautifully illuminated.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

At that time, I thought that the evening I had a chance to come out and take a picture of the exposure, I would definitely take a beautiful light photo.

Unlike the Italian or Spanish capitals with tall buildings built in neo-Renaissance style, with fine concrete and sculptured materials, the cities of northern Europe brought me the feeling of modern cities, with many new buildings built with glass bearing.

Then I went to another section and found a park called Ostedsparken. Since it was early to go to my hostel, I had two options: walking straight to the left or walking through the park.

After a thoughtful moment, I wanted to undergo a fresh feeling before arriving at the hostel so I decided to  visit the park. The atmosphere is really very fresh, cheery.  there are many people doing morning exercise.

  1. 3  Ostedsparken.

The natural green carpet surrounded by modern buildings, I felt like I was in New York Central Park.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Looking away as if in a tropical country =)

Then I found a way back to my hostel. In front of the hostel where I live there is a secondhand market

  1.  a secondhand market

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

People sell a lot of old items from plates, cups to travel souvenirs, a lot of Chinese pottery and souvenirs from around the world. In particular, I found a seller of a key chain collection featuring many of the famous car and manufacturers. However, I have decided to save my money

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

I also consider it but do not buy because the price is a bit expensive.

Then I went back to the hostel to take a break and started my journey of exploring the city.

  1. 5 Den Standhaftige Tinsoldat
  2. Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

I went to the downtown area and caught a Den Standhaftige Tinsoldat team. They are the Soldier Tales - Royal Life Gaurd or the Danish Royal Guard soldiers, howl this country is still having a king.

I have learned that the Royal Life Guards provide a permanent guard at the Amalienborg Palace, Kastellet, Rosenborg Castle / garrison of the Royal Life Guards in Copenhagen and the garrison of Høvelte.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

One thing that I noticed was the review of the Royal Life Guards, worn during the guard duty, consists of bearskin headdresses, dark blue tunics and light blue trousers with white stripes. The ceremonial uniform, worn on special occasions, the substitutes a scarlet tunic for the dark blue.

The Royal Life Guards are identical to Andersen's Den Standhaftige Tinsoldat, with a high feathered hat, similar to the British Army's traditional costume. After a visit to Copenhagen I learned there is a special link between the Nordic countries and England.

Look at the "soldiers" in the silly. Even they have women too: 3

  1. 5 King's New Square.

Following the coat of arms, I went to Kongens Nytorv, Kong's New Square, King's New Square.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

At the center there is also a secondhand market, then I asked out to know that today is the secondhand day of the city so there are many secondhand fairs everywhere in the city.

The most striking impression about the square is that they are building the metro system above so I really admire the Danes at civilization as they have turned corrugated boards around the area. Become an exhibit of artwork. Especially they come from Vietnam.

Rather than the corrugated sheets that make the construction site ugly, especially in Vietnam, it has become a place for young people. In Copenhagen, they know it as street art-mirror wave exhibitions. is one of them.

I followed my footsteps chasing the Royal Danish Army to a large square, where the Royal Danish Amalienborg Palace was.

If you are curious to know the life of the Royal Danish Parliament, I highly recommend you to visit the Amalienborg Palace. Here, I could Enjoy the opportunity to admire the magnificent interior of the grand palace and visit the museum to learn the history of the first Danish kings and queens.

  1. 6  Amalienborg

    Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

As far as I can see, Amalienborg is not intended to be a royal residence. When it was first built in 1750, the population was designed as the palace of the nobles. The fire in the royal palace forced the royal family to move and buy Amalienborg. Furthermore, I witnessed the march of the Royal Guard of Denmark through the streets. Every morning, the guards leave Rosenborg Castle to move here. Arrive early to get the best location, or find a coffee shop on the way to relax and watch the guards march past. Enjoy the sound of the Royal Guard band during the exchange ceremony when the queen is in the palace.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

An entrance to the square stretches straight to Kirke Frederiks

The large circular square in the middle is the statue Rytterstatuen (The equestian statue)

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Statue of a beautiful bright white marble in Copenhagen sky blue.

This is the statue of King Frederick V monumental among the four palaces of the same. This work is arguably one of the most noteworthy examples of the theme of equestrian statues in the world. The buildings are excellent examples of Danish rococo architecture. Two buildings open to the public: The palace of Christian VIII has a royal museum, while the palace of Christian VII is used to welcome dignitaries.

Then there was the lead courtesy of the soldiers.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

From Amalienborg Palace, I went to the beach. One interesting thing is that Copenhagen is located in North Europe which has many large islands combined; first I thought these are the two sides of the river then I know that this is the coast. A peaceful air, many people are sunbathing and reading books nearby the sea.

Even so far there are some ships that are anchored, as well as small boats traveling or hitting the people to create a very peaceful, lovely atmosphere.

An old crane.

Then I walked along the beach because at the end of the beach beyond the bay, is the famous mermaid (The Little Mermaid)

  1. 7 St Alban's church

On the way I visit a beautiful church built in British architecture, St Alban's church.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

I also just stood outside to take a picture of the church because I visited many famous churches in the world, where two enthusiastic ladies invited me in. They distributed leaflets about the church. For us, I remember her grandmother gentle, asking where I came from.

I answer :

"I came from Vietnam"

So she tried to find the Vietnamese information leaflet for me. There are many other flyers such as English, Portuguese, Spanish to Japanese and Chinese.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

However, after a long search for her, she was a little sad and gave me English. It seems that the church is very thoughtful and has translated the various language information about the church to be distributed to tourists. I told her I was hoping after I returned to Denmark I would see the Vietnamese flyers here.

Of course, the flyer has great information about the history and architecture of the church, which was built by the British community in Denmark, thanks to the great help of Princess Alexandra (Denmark) and her husband is Prince Edward of the Great Britian. And then Prince Edward became King Edward VII of England.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

St Alan's is a fine exmaple of the Victorian "Early English" gothic architecturre designed by Victorian church arrchitect, Sirr Arthurr Blomfield.

Moreover, for this church, the Princess laid the foundation stone on September 19, 1885, accompanied with her husband.

In the last part of the paper they carefully write a request for visitors to donate money to remodel and preserve the church.

1.8 Kastellet

Next to it, right next to the church I visited the ancient city of Kastellet, the city that I looked at google was impressed by it was built in oval-shaped architecture - also known as Star-shaped.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Walking from the morning I was also tired, I sat on the green grass smoothly a little look at the gate of the ancient city as the ancient city of Vietnam.

At the gate they also have a soldier statue, apparently there was a suicide battle here. Kastellet was once a fortress protecting the city, but is now a public park, a cultural and historical monument and also used for military purposes. The park has gardens, trees, and ponds around. It is located near the small Mermaid and is a great place to relax on a warm day.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Right at the gate, there is a soldier statue called our fallen statue, which seems to have had a suicide battle here. As the Fall of Copenhagen in World War II the statue of Our Fallen statue stands on the monument at the entrance to Kastellet in Copenhagen.

It is made in bronze by the artist Svend Lindhart. It stands on a limestone shelf at the entrance to Kastellet at Sjællandsporten

It told me that the statue commemorates the soldiers killed during World War II and is only five minutes walk from the Freedom Museum and the new Monumet for Denmark's International Initiative after 1945.

2 layers of gates.

Inside the city is a military barracks

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Red flag of Denmark with white stripes of Denmark

Soldiers are painted red with white windows, which look beautiful, and create a sense of warmth and warmth.

Even at the corner of the citadel, they also had a red windmill, which was the first beautiful windmill I saw.

Of course, I try to set up tripod to take pictures of myself, in addition to the weather is not support (hiu hiu sunshine was pretty lame rùi) after taking this picture I was taken by soldiers Gun chases because this is the military barracks area not allowed to take pictures. v: v v

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Standing on the wall, I took a photograph of myself and sented itto the Vietnam Historical Association. You can build vibran architecture in this ancient city.

It was sunny again, so I took a beautiful picture of Kastelle's neck, and I remembered that it was then that I screamed: Fanstatic, Beautiful! People! Nature and the air is so fresh.

Walking from the morning was also tired, I sit on the green grass smoothly a little look at the gate of the ancient city as the ancient city of Vietnam.

Take another trip along the coast, I also met her!

1.9 The little mermaid.

The character sculpture of my favorite Danish fairy tale has become a symbol of the city for over a century.

As far as I read, in the past a small statue was built that would conquer the hearts of Copenhagen residents. She sits on a rock at the main harbor, and the statue of Lady Fish welcomes all visitors to the Danish capital. This sculpture has become a symbol of the city and one of the most popular photographic opportunities with visitors.

I love small bronze sculptures depicting a character in the famous Danish fairy tale, a sad love story unrequited. A young mermaid asked the sorceress for her to change her voice for her feet so that she could live on the shore with the prince she loved. When the emperor decides to marry another princess, she refuses to kill him to break the curse that allows her to return to sea.

This is a book that I loved and read when I was little. The Fairy Tale Fish Story was written by famous writer Hans Christian Anderson, who lived in Copenhagen in the 1800s.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

I was a little disappointed that so many tourists came to take pictures with the little mermaid different from my imagination of a mermaid, sitting on a rock far away from the vast sea of heaven in many postcards that I have seen about copenhagen. Unfortunely, It turned out the whole picture trick, looking to the other shore is already standing another island. Anyway,I  tried to get a photo with her.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Poor my little mermaid, she just floated on the water to breathe a hard drive to find the Prince in her dream that there are a whole group of men and women, both men and women rushing there to take photos with her. Moreover, I have not to mention she's still naked.

Do your guys pay for taking photo with her?

Probably Not.

Then, I say goodbye to my little mermaid  and I said that I would come back some days, I promised to take my wife to take pictures with her, too! By the way, if she was there waiting for her prince!

After I went back to Amalienborg Palace on my way to visit Gefionspringvandet fountain.

Gefion waterfalls are re-enacted Gefion is in the sea with four cows, looking at this but the fountain is so big, the cows look terrible also.

 2.0 Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

After that, I went to visit Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek

Then I spend my time looking at one of the most comprehensive collections of ancient art in Northern Europe in a beautiful historic building.

The rich private Danish private collection is now being introduced in a historic building. Art lovers can not miss the visit to Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, because the impressive art exhibited has a history of 8,000 years.

I see Carl Jacobsen laying the groundwork for one of the most massive collections of ancient art, sculpture and paintings in Denmark.

I was surprised to learn that he was the son of the founder of the Carlsberg Brewery, and he was able to collect impressive European paintings and artifacts from ancient times. As the art collection grew out of the capacity of the house, Jacobsen generously donated it to the Danish state. The old fortress of the city was chosen to store precious treasures.

Most people come to Glyptotek to admire the ancient art collection considered to be one of the largest collections in North Europe, the collection dates to 6500 BC.

I find it very fortunate that I find out the story behind the very old art form through a free guided tour. A walk among the enormous sculptures from ancient Egypt, including the elaborately carved white marble casket for Jacobsen's collection.

The Greek, Roman and Etruscan collections are the largest collections outside the Mediterranean area and consist of marble statues and pottery. Admire the oldest works in the fascinating Near East Collection, where cultures of the Near East and Mesopotamia can be discovered through ancient artifacts.

Also, I noticed and noticed that Jacobsen was also interested in modern European art, so let's indulge in a huge collection of works across the continent. A particular focus is the French painting and sculpture. Édouard Manet and Edgar Degas are masters of the French collection. If you have time, visit the magnificent collection of Auguste Rodin to admire many of his world famous sculptures.

 2.1 Frederik's Church.

Wandering in Copenhagen (1)

Finally to finish a morning sightseeing trip tired, I visit the last place is the church Frederik's Church.

A pretty church, the largest church in the Scandinavian region (North Europe, including the three countries of Denmark, Norway and Sweden) in the statue of Kierkegaard, he is a famous philosopher with photos. deeply influenced 20th century world philosophy, in particular and on existentialism and modern pre-modernism.

I do not care about the philosophies very much, learn Marx Lenin is enough headache, I care about taking better pictures, this picture has a beautiful composition
