Tivoli Gardens
The introduction
Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!
In this article I want to tell you about this place in Copenhagen called Tivoli, which I don’t know if you know anything about it, however, if you visit Copenhagen, you should definitely pay a visit to Tivoli Gardens, which is an amazing place for everyone, let that be children or adults.
Well, to tell you the truth, I hadn’t heard about Tivoli Gardens until I watched this TV show about Copenhagen and since I was not interested in that city very much, I just watched it for leisure and entertainment, however, the TV show was pretty interesting and the show about the city of Copenhagen was a really interesting one, if you want to know the truth.
To be honest, I didn’t really expect the Tivoli Gardens to be that fancy and large. I just thought, that it was something with the roller-coasters and games machines and stuff like that, however, it didn’t really was that way and it exceeded my expectations, so to say. To tell you the truth, I just decided to go there because I had that Copenhagen Card, which cost me a lot, so that I would use every opportunity, that I had with that card, of course. And that was one of the reasons why I went to the Tivoli Gardens, however, I knew, that it was a huge deal to visit it, because it doesn’t cost cheap and getting there is pretty expensive, not to mention having a dinner there or playing some games or things like that.
About the Tivoli Gardens
Did you know, that the Tivoli Gardens was the second oldest operating amusement park in the world?! I didn’t know that either until just recently. And the first one is located in Denmark, too, so that the Danish people are pretty serious ones when it comes to amusement parks, I guess. well, the Tivoli Gardens was opened on August 15 1843 and since then it has lots of visitors per year. There can be about 5 million visitors per year in Tivoli Gardens!
Tivoli Gardens was founded by Georg Carstensen, who told King Christian VIII that “when the people are amusing themselves, they don’t think about politics”. The King gave him some land and so that he founded the Tivoli Gardens near the Vesterport.
Tivoli Gardens is located on Vesterbrogade 3 and it’s just nearby the Glyptoteket or National museum of Denmark and it’s like on the way to Frederiksberg from the Radhusetplads or Stroget or somewhere there. It was on my way home from those places and I usually went in front of it, wondering when I could see what was there inside, because there were always so many people outside waiting in the queue to get their tickets and go inside the Tivoli Gardens, that I got interested in it, of course. However, I must tell you, that buying a ticket to enter the Tivoli Gardens is not something easy, I mean, you will have to be in the waiting line there and you will have to pay more than 100 DKK if you’re an adult and you are visiting Tivoli Gardens in summer, because it’s the season there and many tourists visit Tivoli Gardens and it’s just a really crowded place there at night, when everything is lit up and the life is flowing there.
Tivoli Gardens is not just rides and stuff like that, however, there are many rides and one of the best-known ones is its wooden roller coaster called Rutschebanen and some people call it Bjergbanen (the Mountain Coaster), which was built in 1914 and it’s one of the world’s oldest wooden roller coasters, which is still operating today.
