Open air movie Copenhagen
The introduction
Hello everyone, I hope, that you are all doing just fine!
In this article I want to tell you about this open air festival in Copenhagen which we attended _ me and my friends, after visiting the museum in Kunsthal Charlottenborg. There was this open air movie presentation just in the park nearby the Norreport station called Kongens Have, which means “King’s or Royal Garden” and it was full of people and different things and they were all just waiting for the film to start on that huge screen.
When it comes to open air things, Copenhagen is not the best place to get to, because of its weather. The weather in Copenhagen is unpredictable, especially in the summer time, because once it’s sunny and then there’s suddenly raining cats and dogs, so that you never know, when you will need a raincoat. That’s why it was like a miracle to attend that open air movie festival in Copenhagen and not get all wet.
Cinemateket
First of all, you should know about the place near the Kongens Have, which usually has lots of visitors. It’s a place of movies and it was the Cinemateket open air movie, that we attended on that day in Copenhagen.
Cinemateket is located on Gothersgade 55 and it’s a large building with 3 cinema rooms in it as I know. it mostly shows the classics and old movies, which people really like and they usually visit the Cinemateket pretty often. The prices there are reasonable, too, so that people just enjoy watching the movies.
When there’s an opportunity Cinemateket also offers open air movie shows in the entrance of the Kongens Have and people can grab some warm cloths and things to put on the ground and sit there in that fresh air. There are no bookings or payments for the open air moviesand everyone is allowed to go there and watch the classics on that large screen in the park.
Open air movie “Blue Velvet”
It was just the day before the open air movie, when Kathrine posted this event in our group and told us about the open air movie showing Blue Velvet in Kongens Have. We were going to go to the Kunsthal Charlottenborg exhibition that day and we didn’t really know whether we would go there or not, however, it was a good idea, of course.
It was somewhere about 5 p.m., when we got out of the Kunsthal Charlottenborg and walked towards the Norreport station. There was the announcement, that there would be a DJ Laura Palmer from 4 p.m. in the park with some tracks and then the film would start at about 10 p.m. and finish in about 2 hours, so that you could have a pretty good time hanging out there.
It was a great weather that day with no showers or drizzles. It was pretty sunny for some reason and it was really surprising, because it rained too much in those days. And if you are visiting Copenhagen in summer, especially at the end of July and in the beginning of August, you should know, that it’s the raining season and you should have a pretty good raincoat all the times with you.
When we got to the Kongens Have there were many people already gathered around and the music was on. There were the corn machines and you could buy it in some reasonable prices. You could find a small place, where you could buy some drinks and snacks, too. There was almost everything to get comfortable on the loan and get ready to watch the film on that large screen. You just had to have some warm clothes with you, because when the sun went down, it was really cold in Copenhagen even though it was summer.
It was still expensive to buy some things in the Kongens Have, so that we bought some things nearby in a supermarket and get ready to watch the movie and until then listen to some music and talk. Everything there was pretty comfortable, they even had these good looking red coloured bio toilets, so that you could use them if needed.
