Freetown Christiania - the first impressions
Visiting Christiania _ the first impressions
Well, it was this Saturday, when we had planned to go on a Copenhagen boat trip, which was supposed to be pretty amazing, and I was really looking forward to it, and the day started pretty nicely, I mean, the sun was shining and I thought, that it would be a very nice day, because I still was not gotten used to this Danish weather. And, well, I just had a shirt and a jacket on me and that was all. I went outside pretty pleased with my decision about my clothing and went to meet other students from the course to go on that boat trip.
We had a fantastic time on the boat trip and though it kind of rained a little, it was nothing serious, so that after the boat trip Kathrine suggested visiting Christiania, as it was a fascinating place for the tourists, of course. I was planning on visiting Christiania, however, I knew, that it was kind of dangerous going there alone all by myself, so that when I heard Kathrine saying, that she would be going to Christiania after the boat trip, I was sure, that I would be one of those students to go there with her. Although, people told us about the weather forecast, that there would be rain that day, we didn't really care about that, because we didn't think, that the rain would be something very serious there.
So, one of Kathrine's friends knew the road to Christiania and so that we all followed him to take us there. It was kind of long walk until there, or, at least, that was how it seemed to me, however, finally we were there and we saw this tall arch, saying that we were at the gate of Christiania.
Entering Christiania, there were this souvenir a handmade things' places and shops and there were plenty of different things, which the locals had made, and then they were selling them and many of them were fascinating and were not very expensive, either, if you want to know the truth.
There was also some pretty cool ice-cream sold there and I thought about eating some ice cream, however, there were lots of us, and we had just gotten there, and we were following Kathrine on our tour in Chritiania, so that it was not a good time for ice cream then.
To be honest, I thought, that Christiania would be a scary place with high people and scary stuff and everyone looking at you whether you have a camera with you or not and things like that, however, this place didn't seem like that at all. In fact, there were many tourists and there were cafes and places, where you could have a nice meal or have a beer or something like that.
The very first thing, that we saw was this small building, where there was this thing built for skateboarding and it was really very well painted and there were cool graffitis there on the walls and it looked really nice. There were all those places with plenty of paintings and these people were really talented and creative for doing such a great job in making usual things special!
Well, then came this place of everyone's interest: weed selling and stuff like that and those places are forbidden to capture, so that one can not take pictures there.
Being there in Christiania we saw many things, which were pretty interesting. There were all those rubbish cans, which were red and painted with different graffitis. There were also places full of some statuettes and I don’t know what those statuettes exactly represented, however, they were kind of scary, too.
There were people selling weed, of course, and there was like a bazaar or something and there were all those people having some tables or shelves with all those different drugs, and they were in those small test-tubes, which had different colored corks, and they were transparent and you could see what was there inside. It was a pretty hard choice to make when it came down to choosing some weed if you didn’t know anything about it, however, those people, who knew much about weed and things like that could easily choose between the choices, I guess. There’s this Pusher street or Green Light District, where they usually sell those drugs, hash and skunk weed, however, they don’t allow the “hard drugs”, such as heroin and cocaine, amphetamine, ecstasy. I think, that’s because of the later 20-th century incident, when 10 people died because of the overdose and four of them were the residents of Christiania.

Very unfriendly people. Yelling at people who take photos. Also there is dirt everywhere, full of junkies, illegal drug sellers, ... just stay away and definitely don't bring kids. It is not a hippie comunity rather a bunch of criminals.
