Our way to Blød Hat

Well, after dining at Paludan café, we wanted to listen to some live music and continue our evening in a nice, cozy place, and someone suggested the Blød Hat restaurant, where there is live music late in the evenings. It’s just nearby the city center and the Round Tower. It’s on this Rådhusstræde, which is practically one of the main streets full of souvenir shops and cafes.

So we went there. It was a couple of minutes walks from the Paludan café and the building didn’t seem very fancy, I mean, it was a very quiet place, the lights were dimmed and it was like no one was there, or at least, I thought, that nobody was there. It was a casual white building, like a corner one and there were some nicely shaped bushes and there was a menu on a black board on the wall outside the restaurant and the entrance was pretty narrow, if you ask me.

Well, we entered the restaurant and there were tables full and since we were kind of many, we needed to have three tables, and we wanted to be together, so that they placed us on the right side from the entrance door, where there were four tables and each of them had four chairs around.

People wanted to have some drinks there, but I didn’t really want anything to eat or drink I was so full of that beer and Tagliatelle, which I had in the Paludan café and I told them not to order anything for me.

So, as I have already told you, I didn't want to order anything, because I would not be able to eat or drink there and I just wanted to chat or whatever. People around were not too keen on having something, either, however, it was rude of course not to order anything.

Ordering a pitcher

Well, to be honest, looking at the menu I realized, that everything there was pretty expensive. Of course, Denmark is a very expensive country, that I knew, however, the prices were still very confusing and unusual, until I got used to that. And, of course, this one was a restaurant and pretty respected one and, besides, it was located in the city center, so that it was pretty fancy one, I guess, so that the prices were related, too, if you ask me. I was going to take some pictures of the menu, however, it was kind of inappropriate with all the people around, so that I just took a picture of the last page of the menu, where this offer about ordering a pitcher was written. However, this was all in Danish and the English version of the menu was not on our table at that time and it's all in Danish on the picture, though, I'm sure, that you will still understand what is written there.

As it turned out, the table should have ordered something together, I mean, they took table orders and not just one person's, so that all the other people from other tables took some drinks like beer or wine and then there was us. Some of us wanted to have a beer and some of us didn't want anything, but in the end, it seemed like we would take a pitcher. There was this thing written at the end of the menu, that if we took a pitcher, it would just be 300 DKK or something like that. Well, we wondered how large this pitcher was, however, we couldn't find that out. Of course, we asked that to the waiter, however, he didn't really tell us how large the pitcher was. He just said, that it was a pitcher and that was all. Well, I knew, that I was not going to drink anything, however, others decided, that they could, and they ordered a pitcher.

To be honest, we didn't really expect that pitcher to be that small. I mean, it was a normal size thing and it was not something very large or whatever. It was like 10 or 12 glasses, I guess. However, that was what it was and so that the drinking began!

Then there was this live music, too, and it was pretty good, though I don't really remember what music they were playing. I think it was something like jazz, because I don't know anything about it.

It was already pretty late, and we were not going to go anywhere and some other people had already left and then the live music was replaced by the CDs or youtube, I guess.

There were some candles in the bottles on the tables, which were already melted and there were flowers next to them, which made the tables look pretty lovely, I must say, and the lights there made the environment very cozy and you wouldn't want to leave, if you want to know the truth. Then some people left, and we changed the tables, and we had some jokes and some conversations and the waiters were just waiting for us to decide to leave, I guess, however, we were like the stubborn ones, and we just sat there and laughed.

It was a pretty good ending of our day out, and we had a lot of fun and it was a good thing to get to know each other better and get closer to each other. However, it was time to leave, and, besides, it was already midnight, I guess, and I had to go home all by myself and it as kind of scary, however, there were people walking around everywhere in Copenhagen and it was not unsafe or something like that. Some guys wanted to go to some club or dancing, and they were telling me come, too, though I preferred going home at that time, so that I said good-byes and started walking towards the Frederiksberg, where my accommodation was.
