Leaving from Cologne by train (RB, RE, ICE) towards Königswinter.

Once you arrive at Königswinter train station, there are tours to the left heading south. In the distance, you can see the mountain, the castle. The street that goes to the castle is called Drachenfelsstraße and it is signposted.

To go up, you can go in a cable-car (see prices) up to the Drachenburg castle. Another option is to go up by foot which is takes approximately 30 minutes and you can enjoy the landscape. There is a somewhat exaggerated incline at the beginning, but it is only that section, as you climb further it becomes flatter.

You can also visit Drachenfel (they are the ruins and entry is free) which is 10 minutes from the castle by foot, or by cable-car (the last stop).

The entrance fee to the castle is EUR 6 for adults y EUR 4 for children and students.

Within the castle, you can visit the gardens and see the views of Königswinter and the Rhein. You can also appreciate Cologne from a distance. It is also possible to visit the interior of the castle. It is best to do an excursion in the morning, up to Drachenfel by foot (for the lazier people, by cable-car), and then down to Drachenburg and see the castle and its gardens.

You can find the address here.
