What is it like to live in Cologne? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Cologne is a very busy city. It is great if you don't mind traffic and noises. For people who like to party and going to bars Cologne is definitely worth a visit. Most of the old city has been destroyed during the second world war and now its a mixture of old and modern architecture.

What is the student lifestyle like in Cologne?

The student lifestyle is great. There are lots of students from all over the world. A night out is possible at any day of the week.

How much does it cost to live in Cologne?

Renting an apartment in Cologne can be difficult and if you want to live in the city or close to it its normally overpriced. Other then rent things aren't too expensive especially beer.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cologne? Is there any advice you can give?

It's very difficult to find accommodation in Cologne especially on a low budget. It is a popular city for students so cheap apartments are on a high demand.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

There are a lot of great places to eat. Expecially popular are Kebab shops which are life savers after a night out.

What places would you recommend visiting in Cologne?

The number one place to go would be the Dom which is a huge church. Close to this church there is the Hohenzollernbrücke, a bridge full of locks that couples or friends put as a sign of their love. Other then that walking through the old part of the city and drinking a Kölsch (cologne beer) should definitely be part of the visit.

Is it good to eat out in Cologne? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

My favorite restaurant is Habibi, which is libanese. It's delicious and perfect if you're on a small budget. I would also recommend Rico Burrito.

Is the nightlife good in Cologne? Where is good to go?

As I've already said the nightlife is great. If you feel like going to bars you should stop by Zülpicher Straße, a street full of bars and a few cute boutiques. Most clubs are on the Kölner Ring, which is very touristic. I don't really like going there, but tourists normally love it. If you like electronic music or underground hiphop I would strongly recommend the district Ehrenfeld.

What advice would you give future students heading to Cologne?

I am not sure what advice to give you. I am sure you will have a good time.
