What is the student lifestyle like in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?
The university has a good reputation for technical majors. In other words, if you want to study in Clausthal you need to make sure you have the door keys for the library.
Beside studying, the options of sport and language course are immense. There are plenty of options to go out during the beginning and the end of semesters. There are not really a lot of clubs and the few are not as expected. The best parties are in fraternity facilities.
How much does it cost to live in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?
Clausthal is compared to other university cities cheap.
Rents are around €200 - €350/month included electricity and gas/water.
There are some places to go out, but you need either a car or you got to use public transportation. And prices range from €5 - €15.
Gym around €20 - €30/month.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Clausthal-Zellerfeld? Is there any advice you can give?
It depends where you want to live. The periphery of the university is requested but in general there is no problem to find a proper accommodation if one is searching early enough.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
Most students are cooking in groups or eating Kebab, Asian, Italian food. There is a few really good German cuisine which I would recommend if you have company.
What places would you recommend visiting in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?
Waldseebad, Anno Tobak, and Goslar which is the next biggest city.
Is it good to eat out in Clausthal-Zellerfeld? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
Nothing special but in Glückauf the food is pretty good.
Is the nightlife good in Clausthal-Zellerfeld? Where is good to go?
A typical night in Clausthal looks like that. You got to meet at Anno Tobak, you drink a couple of beers, wines or cocktails and move slowly either to the Keller club or to really good private parties. As I told before there are not plenty of options, but if you find a good spot, the crowd is going crazy and you will have fun!
What advice would you give future students heading to Clausthal-Zellerfeld?
If you like to study in an international environment, do sports, party few but then pretty hard, like nature, would have a good job later and learn a lot about yourself in a different habitat than other cities. Clausthal is the perfect spot for you.
