Why did you choose to go to Clausthal-Zellerfeld (Germany)?

I chose this university because it is one of the best universities in Germany for mechanical engineering.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Clausthal-Zellerfeld to other students?

Yes, obviously. For the studies like mechanical engineering, mining engineering and petroleum engineering, I would definitely recommend this university.

What is the food like?

There aren't many possibilities to fill your stomach out there in Clausthal-Zellerfeld. But still one can get everything to cook at home.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?

No. Not a single cent. But definitely finding a room or a flat in Clausthal costs much time. If you want to live in student dormitory of the uni, register yourself well in advance (3-4 months before arrival) on this website.

How much does it cost to live in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?

Average rent is from €150 to €250. Total living cost would be €450 to €550 depending on one's lifestyle.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

German language is neither too easy nor too difficult. It is recommended to learn the language, but still you can manage with English at least at the uni and with fellow students. And yes, language courses are available at the uni.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Clausthal-Zellerfeld from your city?

As I am an Indian, Clausthal is my so-called hometown in Germany. To get out of Clausthal, there is only a single way. One has to travel by bus to Goslar. Then from Goslar one can get trains to each and every corner of Germany.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?

There are very few clubs in Clausthal. Kellerklub and I-Dex are well-known. But don't miss Mensa-Partys.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Clausthal-Zellerfeld?

Glück Auf is the best restaurant in Clausthal. Apart from this, there are some chinese restaurants. You can get Döner at 2 Döner-shops.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Clausthal is known for having the biggest wooden church of Germany. Also there is a mining museum, which should be visited.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Clausthal-Zellerfeld in the future?

"Be a nature-lover". The only way to enjoy the life in Clausthal.
