Experience in Cincinnati, United States by Peter

What is it like to live in Cincinnati? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Cincinnati is a great place to experience midwestern America. People are friendly and polite and there is a decent variety of people. The city is having a bit of an urban revival and groups of people are making a big difference. It is an old city with a history of the American heartland.

What is the student lifestyle like in Cincinnati?

It can be very stereotypical of a big state school (UC) or a smaller liberal arts school (Xavier). But the real opportunity is that Cincinnati is small enough for you to make a difference. There are organizations that want you and places to dig in.

How much does it cost to live in Cincinnati?

Rent can be as cheap as $200-$300 a month or as much as $1000 depending where you want to live.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Cincinnati? Is there any advice you can give?

Talk to someone at UC in the co-op program. There are always kids moving in and out so there are always housing options available.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The Indian food in Clifton is great. Also Vine street in OTR has a solid collection of restaurants. Any Cincinnatian will also give you a list of foods you "have to try" while there.
