Campina grande is one of the main center of technology of Brazil, mainly in eletric engineering and computer science. There are excelent researchers specially in those areas. There are two universities: Federal University of Campina Grande and University of Paraíba State.

Campina Grande is a good place for students. There are good universities and the food is good. Try to stay there during June, this is a excellent month to stay there, because there is the main event in the city during this month: São João de Campina Grande. Campina Grande has a nice weather.

How much does it cost to live in Campina Grande?

Campina Grande is not so expensive to live. There are good restaurants and a lot of lowcost apartments to rent.

It isn't hard to find accomodation in Campina Grande. There are lot of student whom share apartaments with individual bedrooms.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The food in campina grande is amazing. Lunch normally has rice, vegetables, beans and a piece of meat, chicken or fish. My favorite dish is the Cuzcuz (made by cornflour) and billy-goat roasted.

What places would you recommend visiting in Campina Grande?

Açude Velho, Parque das Crianças, Parque do Povo (in June, during the main event in the city: São João)

Is it good to eat out in Campina Grande? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Yes, it is perfect. I recomend: Restaurante O Baixinho, Bar do Cuzcuz and Restaurante Vila Antiga.

Is the nightlife good in Campina Grande? Where is good to go?

The best places open in friday and saturday. It is good to go to Bar do Cuzcuz.

What advice would you give future students heading to Campina Grande?

I recommend to find a place near downtown or university because of transportation. You have to take care with the violence, because there are some dangerous neighborhoods. I recommend you to check that before you rent a place. I don't recommend to use belongs of values in the streets, such as: expensive smartphones, laptopts, jewelry...
