What is it like to live in Budapest? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Budapest is a beautiful city. I think it is on of the best options for students for Erasmus, because it is very cheap (for wester europeans) and we have great parties. Besides that the cultural life is also awesome with a lot of beautiful sights and museums. The people are kind with foreigners.

What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?

A lot of great party-opportunities. Really good transportation even at night. Every student would love it.

How much does it cost to live in Budapest?

I don't know exactly the rent prices (but they are really high at the moment), but I know that besides from rent you can have a good living from 400-500 Euros monthly

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Budapest? Is there any advice you can give?

I do not know it for foreigner as I live here.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

Food is really good (and cheap). In the downtown you can have a nice lunch from 5 Euros. If I were you I would definitely try out some traditional hungarian food.

What places would you recommend visiting in Budapest?

Buda castle- its the medivel part of the town. Hősök tere, with the big park behind it and the museums next to it. The Parliament. Margit island for a nice walk. And the downtown for nights out of course.

Is it good to eat out in Budapest? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

It is definitely good.

Is the nightlife good in Budapest? Where is good to go?

As I alredy said, nighlife is awesome. For foreigners I would recommend "Gozsdu garden", Deák squere for example.

What advice would you give future students heading to Budapest?

We have here some bad neighborhoods like almost all the 8. district (its getting better), or the Népliget. I would not recommend walking there alone at night. If you live near downtown or in Buda nothing bad will happen to you.
Also, winters here can be really cold here so prepare for that.
