What is it like to live in Budapest? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Well, as you know Budapest is a capital city. That's why it has a feeling of a metropolis but it's also mixed with Hungarian vibes. It has a lot of foreign people and you can find anything you look for because Budapest has different colours and sides. Firstly, Budapest is divided in two parts: Buda and Pest. It's separated with the beautiful and well-known river: the Duna. Also, the landscape of the city and the river with different bridges is breathtaking. Buda is more noble and Pest is the life of the city. All buildings are time-honoured and very high, you can feel the History in the little streets of the city. It is for sure worth a visit.

What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?

As Budapest has a lot of universities and foreign/Erasmus students, it's inevitable for the city to be full of students who would like to have fun. The nightlife is mainly downtown, in the 6/7/8th districts. During the day, you can see the students hanging around the schools, student hostels, apartments, city center, etc.

How much does it cost to live in Budapest?

The cost is really diverse, but if you are lucky and you share your apartment with someone you can make it with about 170 € per month. Of course, the student hostels are cheaper, but it also depends from the type of hostel.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Budapest? Is there any advice you can give?

The accommodation business is really going well on Budapest so the apartments are booked really quickly but I am not so informed about it. I can only advise you to check out the Facebook pages that I know. There are several from the webpage called "apartments for students". You can search for it.

What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?

The Hungarian dishes are delicious. There is a huge variety, so it's hard to get bored of them. My favourite one is called "Lecsó". It's made of cooked vegetables with spices and you can also add eggs or "tejföl" (Hungarian sour cream) or sausage with it. It tastes really good.

What places would you recommend visiting in Budapest?

Well, I recommend all Budapest to everyone: to explore the city as it is. As I said before, it has many sides so everyone can find what fits best to them.

Is it good to eat out in Budapest? Can you tell us your favourite spots?

Unfortunately, I didn't use to go to restaurants in Budapest. I only know one that is good for sure and where they serve Hungarian dishes. It's in the "Jászai Mari" Square and the place is called "Lecsó", just as the dish I was talking about before.

Is the nightlife good in Budapest? Where is good to go?

The nightlife is mostly everywhere in the city center (6/7th District). What is really special and truly belongs to the Hungarian culture, though, is the typical "ruin bars". The places look destroyed inside and they're decorated with plenty of interesting things. I really like this place called A38 too. It is a boat on the Duna and it has a really unique feeling to partying on the river and seeing the beautiful view of the city.
