Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?

I always wanted to visit budapest, and when the opportunity presented itself I immediatly chose it. Furthermore, the living costs are affordable and there is a very big student community.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

The scholarships depend on your home university. For me, I received 1200 euros in the month I came, but a lot of my friends still haven't received their scholarships, and when they do they will only receive 70 percent and when going back to their country the other 30 percent.

What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?

For erasmus students students there is a lot of activitites and tours and there are parties as well.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Budapest to other students?

YES.

What is the food like?

The food is good, but I usually cook my own food at home because it is cheaper. The one problem I find is that there is almost no fish.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

At my university there is a Hungarian Course. I still don't understand anything about hungarian and I find it very difficult.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Budapest from your city?

From Portugal it was by plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Budapest?

House parties during covid because the bars are still closed.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Citadella, Géllert Hill, Buda Castel, Margaret Island.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Budapest in the future?

Enjoy!!!!

Hi! Thank you for sharing your experience.
I wanted to ask you about your accommodation: if it were a flat or a student's residence, and if you know of a friend or colleague of yours who has been in a residence.
Thank you so much in advance! :)
