Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?
Well, amongs the choıces I had, Budapest was the best one.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
Unfortunately, it was only one semester and I received 355€.
What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?
I can say that Budapest is one of the best places for the Erasmus students. The prices are fairly cheap. There are always so many events and parties, you could go out with some friends or you could have some drinks in the bars in the city centre.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Budapest to other students?
100%. In my university (especially in civil engineering faculty) the teachers were a little bit serious but the quality was very good.
What is the food like?
Eating a variety of foods is common. Pork is very popular, sausages, and cutlets. Seasonal vegetables are commonly consumed, as well as potatoes, rice, and pasta.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Budapest?
Actually my university doesn't provide accommodation for Erasmus students that's why it was a little bit hard to find a place.
How much does it cost to live in Budapest?
It depends on the person and its lifestyle. If you party every night I would cost a little bit more but it'ss possible to live with 350€ very well.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Actually the language is hard, but when you get the hang of it, it gets easier. Yes, there are language classes at university.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Budapest from your city?
From where I come from the easiest way is by plane.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Budapest?
There are so many places, like oscar bar, morrison's bar, peaches and creams club, Szechenyi Bath and Spa..
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Buda Castle, Citadel, Opera House, Parliament, Chain Bridge and Art Gallery.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Budapest in the future?
If you are a student of civil engineering and you would like to have fun during your Erasmus I suggest you not to choose BME. Because you wouldn't have time to have some fun!
