Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?

Budapest is an eastern European city which today, is in the middle of expansion and very dynamic and culturally rich,. It's a big student city which offers an ideal living environment for an Erasmus year: Inexpensive, with numerous activities and bars and possibilities of travelling around, etc.

How long does your trip last for? How much financial aid do you receive?

A year. The amount of financial aid changes according to university or school. It is not therefore necessary to specify, but it is a very affordable city.

How is student life in Budapest?

The student atmosphere is very pleasant owing to the many students and Erasmus.

Would you recommend the city and the university of Budapest to other students?

For the reasons mentioned above, yes.

How is the food in the country?

The local food is decent but not transcendent.

Did you have any difficulties in finding accommodation in Budapest?

It all depends what you are expecting and on the criteria that you have: number of flatmates, nationality, rent, location, etc. As it's a big student city, there are consistent offers but it's not necessarily easy to find a cool apartment that's good value for money.

How much does it cost to live in Budapest?

Living costs are not very high. Rent in a shared flat in the city centre varies from between €250-400 (bills included), the transport pass is €50 euros for 6 months, a pint is between 1 and 2 euros, a Mcdonalds is €5, the restaurants are around €10, etc.

How is the learning of the language? Have you been to any language courses organised by the university?

We have the possibility to take classes in Hungarian at my university but it's not an obligation.

What is the most economical way to get to Budapest from your city?

By plane.

Which places would you recommend to go out and party at in Budapest?

There are many of them. It all depends on what you're hoping for but it is easy to find places to go out.

And to eat in Budapest? What are your favourite places?

You can likewise find all kinds of restaurants or fast food.

And which cultural visits do you advise?

All the great classic places which are proposed in the guides, and the surrounding cities (Krakow, Vienna, Bratislava, Ljubljana, Belgrade, etc. ).
