Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?
There was 3 option for me.One of them was Budapest and others were Ulm-Germany and Stockholm- Sweden. The reason of my choose my budget, weather , culture and location of Budapest.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
My scholarship was 355 euro per month. I have been there for 5 months. How much money necessary for living there? It depends on your life style. If u like to go out for dinner or party you will spend more than me. My scholarship was not enough for me because I traveled another country during semester. Overheads: a room which include utilities costs 200-350 euro monthly. You are gonna need 12 euro for public transport which is monthly as well.
What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?
They love parties and participate their cultural event. There was lots of ESN Students who organize some trips and tours for visiting Buspest.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Budapest to other students?
Of course! Budapest is wonderful city especially at night views are awsome. My university was Budapest Corvinus University and it also has good range at Economy and Bussiness. I studied Molecular Biology and Genetics at Agricultural Science Faculty. Our faculty has very big garden where can see lots of plant spices and relax in spring. And also Corvinus is in the city centre so you can stay near your faculty building.
What is the food like?
I don't like Hungarian food but it doesn't mean you will be like me.Maybe it because I am muslim and Turkish.
Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Budapest?
The easiest way to find an apartment or room join some facebook groups. Example ESN BUDAPEST or ERASMUS BUDAPEST SPRING 2012...
How much does it cost to live in Budapest?
almost 500 euro per month
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Hungarian is the forth most difficult language in the World but University provides courses for Erasmus student . It just for beginners and includes some daily sentences which you necessary.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Budapest from your city?
Flight is the easiest and economical way to Budapest from Istanbul, Turkey. There are 2 airway Turkish airlines and Wizzair.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Budapest?
walk alongthe Buda side of The Duna. Gellert Hill, Chain Bridge.
And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Budapest?
Antalya Kebap was the my best and also if u like candy , you should go to sugar shop. Antalya Kebap near to Nyugati Train Station. For Sugar shop , walk opposite direction from Opera Building.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
Just google it! There are lots of historical places. Additionally you should go szendentre and balaton lake
