Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?

Because I have never been there and wanted to discover a country of Eastern Europe

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I stayed 1 year in Budapest, I received my scholarship during all the year, in two parts (during and after my stay). I received more around 250€ by month with the Erasmus scholarship.

What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?

Budapest is a very good destination if you don't have a lot of money and want to travel a lot for cheap. As a student, it is really nice, you can eat for 2€ and drink a beer for 1,5€. There are lots of things to do, and also Budapest has strong historical inheritance.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Budapest to other students?

Of course!

What is the food like?

Special... You can eat very well but it's not the same products as in your hometown country so it will be a little bit difficult. You get used to it, even if you are very difficult like me !!

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Budapest?

Not so much, I recommend you to share your flat with other people. You can find huge flats in the city center for nothing. Otherwise, if you want to live alone, you can also find some flat for 400€/month in the center.

How much does it cost to live in Budapest?

It depends of what you do and how you live. The city is cheap but you can easily spend a lot at the end of the month so be careful !! Parties are around 3-5€, food 2-5€, drinks same... I would say 200€ maybe a little bit more I don't know, I don't remember

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Courses at the University are generally in English. To be honest, Hungarian language is incomprehensible and very difficult to learn.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Budapest from your city?

Bus, but also very long.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Budapest?

It depends the music you like! You will find them easily don't worry

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Budapest?

Tripadvisor

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Tripadvisor

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Budapest in the future?

I spent the best moments of my life in Budapest, don't hesitate. You are going to live a crazy life for 1 or 2 semesters, meet people from worldwide, and also you will learn more about yourself.
