Why did you choose to go to Budapest, Hungary?

The distance from my country (Poland) to Budapest is very close. I really wanted to do my Erasmus in capital city and Budapest was the only one option. Additionally Budapest is full of great cultural and entertainment places. It's a beautiful and interesting city, very good option for Erasmus students.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

My schollarship was 5 months. My University sent me about 1575 EU.

What is the student lifestyle like in Budapest?

Student's are very active. It is a city full of cultural and entertainment life. Streets are filled with people, there is lot of Erasmus students in the city which is visible everywhere.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Budapest to other students?

Of course. The city is beautifull and not that expensive. For students who use Euro currency it will be really cheap.

What is the food like?

Local food is interesting but kind of heavy. During the night there is many places with pizza to take away. The prices are really good.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Budapest?

You can find an accommodation beetwen 200- 350 Euro. 200 Euro is a really good price in Budapest. It's not easy to find cheap apartament but it's possible.

How much does it cost to live in Budapest?

For me it wasn't that expensive. Public transport its not expensive for students. You can find many good and cheap supermarkets. Wine is very cheap.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

Hungarian language is very difficult but lot of people speak english. In my Uni we used to have hungarian language for beginers.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Budapest from your city?

I am from Rzeszów. This is town located in the South of Poland. For me the best option was to take a bus from Kraków. The prices are very good. It takes about 7 hours.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Budapest?

Kuplung, Hallo baby bar, Mika Tivadar Mulató, Morrison's 2, Instant, Corvin.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Budapest?

Very good bagels place ( Budapest Bagel), Frici Papa,

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Evertyhing!

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Budapest in the future?

First impresion can be hard because of many homeless people on the streats. Do as much as you can during your Erasmus.
