Okay guys so basically right now I'm waiting for my exam result and my friend is staring at my monitor since we got nothing to do. We’re really stressed out and just want to get this over with. To kill time I'm gonna update this entry. And yea let’s forget about the troubles of being a medical student.

First things first, Merry Christmas; I personally don’t celebrate Christmas but I wish you guys have a great one ahead full of joy and peace of mind. Well since it's Christmas I thought to write a little about Christmas shopping and hence the shopping centers in Budapest. This entry is going to be a rather short one so let's get to it.

Given I'm coming from Malaysia, no shopping centers can impress me in terms of size, glamor, diversity and prices. I have seen it all. After all Malaysia always had a say when it came to huge entertaining shopping centers. This all aside, Budapest does have a few shopping centers and even though they can’t match the glamour and size of the ones in Malaysia, they are still great for finding exactly what you need. They’ve got all the essentials without the unnecessary shops. I have pretty much been to all of them and they are all almost the same, with a difference of few shops. In this post I’m going to briefly explain each of them and then you guys can decide which one to go to or just pay a visit to them all.

I’m definitely not a huge shopping fan. I enjoy shopping from time to time, specially when I have a pocket full of cash (which is almost never #brokestudentlife) but I don’t actually consider shopping my hobby or therapy as some might call it, so that’s why I wasn’t too concerned with the shopping centers here but then the weather started getting really cold and I was running out of layers to wear so that’s when I seek refuge in shopping centers. Yes I know that story was extremely interesting to you all, thanks for listening.

Anyhow here are Budapest’s shopping centers, let’s see what they got.

Corvin mall

Corvin mall or Corvin Plaza is one of Budapest’s newest shopping centers; located in one of the most student friendly areas, you can literally see a bunch of distressed students rushing through the mall at any time of day. Or in my case you can see every single one of your classmates or the guys you want to avoid in this shopping mall. Seriously man I have never been peaceful here, I constantly have to say hi to random people from my university. Okay that does make me sound antisocial but I swear I’m not. Anyhow since corvin mall is a new shopping center, it has certain glamour to it. You feel the energetic vibe and warmth of the place and I most certainly do recommend going here. It’s not that large but it has got absolutely everything one might need. The department stores include Dm, Müller and Prima if I’m not mistaken. Prima is amazing for grocery shopping. The shop is large and it has literally every item your household needs. I wrote about Prima and other places ideal for grocery shopping in another blog entry. So do check it out. Anyways I literally go to corvin for everything and anything. Below I'm going to mention a list of available shops in Corvin, this way any time you decide to go, you can just check to see if Corvin has what you’re looking for. The only downside to Corvin is that it doesn’t have any Bershka, Mango or Zara. Apart from that I think it contains all the other important brands. Let’s take a look

1) H & M (Self explanatory)

2) Tamaris Boots (which are by the way really high quality, I bought my mom a pair and she’s literally obsessed with them. They are rather high priced. A pair of boots averaging around 15, 000-20, 000 Forints but they are worth it)

3) Reserved (such a good clothing store and brand. The shop is well lit and has two floors for men and women clothing, but I personally find them slightly overpriced; they are always in trend though and so if you want to be fashionable pay a visit to this shop)

4) Sinsay ( Definitely one of my favorite shops here in Budapest, Sinsay is the absolute best place to buy cute things from

5) Prima (I've written about Prima fully in my previous blog posts regarding where to grocery shop in Budapest)

6) Müller (One of favorite department drug stores of all time, mulller is well lit, grand and often has really good promotions going on. I literally can spend hours in Muller just testing out different products)

7) DM ( well DM is a great drug store as well but the problem is that the one is inside the corvin mall is so small and offers such a limited ranges of products that you literally can't find anything in there)

8)Cosmo (Although I have never shopped from this shop myself, I always see that they have sales going and to be honest the shop is kind of not well lit, it looks a litte depressing and empty

9) Libri ( The biggest bookstore chain that you can find anywhere in Budapest, most of the books are in hungarian but don't worry you can still find a limited selection of English books, they usually have really famous books or those who have been converted to motion pictures)

10) The food court

Well the food court in Corvin plaza is as good as it gets. Full of options and a huge sitting area this place is a safe haven for hungary students and working people. During lunch hours the place is filled with people and the air is filled with mouth watering smells. The food court has literally every food possible, they've got a subway (which is horrible, read my blog post on it), they have KFC, Doner kebabs, italian, salad bar, japanese and etc. Definitely worth a visit.
