Trip to Budapest (the finalé)

I know I said I wouldn't be posting any more about the trip to Budapest, but I think that I left some things which I wanted to tell you, unsaid, curiosities and the rest.

  1. In regards to the metro, I didn't tell you anything, but it seems the same as the one in Madrid, except it's maybe a little more dated. But as for the cleanliness, it was normal.
  2. You can get WiFi in places such as McDonalds or for example, there was WiFi in our hostel. Although I have already said that there was also internet in the hotel, which we went to in order to print my friend's ticket, and they let us use the internet for free (maybe that's something they let you do in all the hotels. )
  3. It's an enormous city which has a metro, tram network, buses and trains which circulate around the city. One thing that left an impression on me was to see the buses that were attached to cable like the trams, but they went around the normal roads that didn't have rails.
  4. The prices are confusing, I would advise you to have something which tells you the equivalent of 1€, for example and a calculator to hand (even one on a mobile phone) so you know how much money you're really spending.
  5. You can have dinner in the most expensive restaurant in Budapest for only 20€.
  6. If you're going to the Opera, try to pay a little more and get good seats so you can really enjoy the performance.
  7. Don't forget to bring your passport, because although Hungary is a member of the EU, you may misplace your ID.
  8. Bring warm clothes because at this time of year it's usually cold, although the tour guide told us that in January it gets even colder.
  9. If you're spending more than 3 days in the city it's really good because if not, you won't have enough time to see everything.
  10. I don't know why but my Spanish friend and I didn't use our phones, I couldn't get any signal... however, our Polish friend did, don't ask me why.
  11. Don't forget to go to the Christmas markets, since in Spain we don't have them, so enjoy it while you can!

Now, I'm going to leave some photos for you of some of the things that I've mentioned or showed you, I'll tell you what each of them are.

This is basically a machine that I found in the airport toilets in Paris which impressed me because I have never seen one of these machines which dispenses tampons and sanitary towels in Spain.

I'm showing you this photo because it is a hat which made me really happy and I really wanted to by it, but honestly it was a little too expensive.

This was a concert that was being held in the Christmas market, it was very relaxing, Celtic type music.

Well, as you can see, this is the typical sculpture or whatever you call it where lovers or best friends put a padlock or something of the sort. A girl told us that there are a variety of these things around Budapest, but there are some people (caretakers of the sculptures, I suppose) who make sure that the sculptures don't become too full of padlocks and they will remove some of the padlocks if they have to in order to make the sculpture more pretty. People throw the keys of the padlock into the river and believe that the relationship will last forever.

These are photos of the walk up to the top of the mountain with the bird that I told you about. When you're going up, you can see so many amazing views of the landscape.

This is a photo of the harlequin of Budapest, which I believe has something to do with the musical history of this city, but I'm not too sure.

These are photos of the market that I mentioned. Paprika or these peppers are very typical of Hungary.

This is the km 0, from where the distances between different countries are calculated.

Well, I don't think there's anything else that I've forgotten.

I hope that you have enjoyed, and that someday you'll visit this city because it really is gorgeous.

Kisses to everyone!
