Places to visit in Budapest
Budapest is a famous city that everybody loves it, and it is similar to Turkish culture with its certain cultural, historic make-up and, especially with the Sziget Festival in recent years. If you are here, we need to talk about what we need to do before leaving the city. I think my favourite places to see are:
1. Chain Brigde
All bridges, especially Chain Bridge, Lion Bridge, which is also called the bridge, is amazing at night. All bridges should be visited both night and day because the city lighting can be different. I think Budapest is the best city to visit the Danube river.
2. Royal Castle
It is located on the waterside of the Danube river and is also named Buda Castle. It is the best place to enjoy watching the Danube.
3. Parlamento Binası
Again, the Parliament Building located on the waterside of the Danube river, dazzles with its architecture and lighting. The parliament has 600 rooms in inside of it.
4. Fisherman’s Bastion
This building is a tremendous building with Gothic architecture. It is on the side of the Matthias Church. It is a must-see place.
5. Dohany Street Synagogue
It is the largest synagogue in Europe. Also on the leaves of the tree in the garden are the names of the Jews killed during Hitler's time.
6. Szent Istvan Basilica
It also goes by the name St. Stephen Basilisk. It is a huge structure. I suggest you go inside and get out to the top floor. Also the lighting is great.
7. Andrassy Utca
If possible, take a long walk on this street. It is a definite recommendation as it is very fun and enjoyable. It's called the Champs-Elysees of Budapest.
8. Heroes Square
This square, named Heroes Square, is at the end of Andrassy Utca. In addition to the sculptures of the great little famous artists, Kosboca has a long Gabriel sculpture. From Andrassy's perspective, that statue is visible on the horizon. I also recommend you to see the lit-up version of the square, so it is worthwhile to see the street at night.
9. Opera House
It is also located in Andrassy Utca. Even if you would not go inside and watch an Opera, I think you should definitely see the building because of its architecture. There is a history of about 150 years.
10. Gellert Hill
I strongly recommend you go up this hill and enjoy the magnificent view of Budapest. There is also a Statue of Liberty on the hill. However, you have to walk for at least half an hour, but be sure to go.
11. Terror Museum
It is the first and only terror museum in the world. Inside, there are World War II paintings and simulations, which I think are worth seeing.
12. Tomb of Gül Baba
It's right next to Buda Castle. It is made from Turkish architecture.
Have a good time!
