Experience in Brugge, Belgium by Naomi
What is it like to live in Brugge? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Living in Brugge is very peacefull. In the evening it's very quiet but during the weekends it's more lively and fun to go out. Brugge is small but very beautiful.
What is the student lifestyle like in Brugge?
Brugge is not a student city. If you really like student parties, Gent is better. Gent is only 20 minutes from Bruges so it's ideal.
Brugge is smaller and we have a lot of cozy bars.
How much does it cost to live in Brugge?
The touristic parts of Bruges are very expensive but if you meet up with locals, they can definitely show you some cheap places. Student rooms are also not that expensive.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Brugge? Is there any advice you can give?
There are some cheap studentrooms available every year in the center. But even outside the center, you have places, and they will probably be cheaper. Brugge is small so even outside the center is nearby.
What is the food like? What are your favorite dishes?
Brugge has the best chocolate and fries in the world I think. Also the best beer. If you come to Brugge you should definately try some fresh mad fries with mayonaise from 'het frietkot'. Also the mussels are very good.
What places would you recommend visiting in Brugge?
Minnewaterpark, The Old Chocolate House.
Is it good to eat out in Brugge? Can you tell us your favorite spots?
Medard, De Stoepa, Ribs and Beer...
Is the nightlife good in Brugge? Where is good to go?
The nightlife is okay, but only on Thursdays and the weekend.
I would recommend " L'AMARAL", 't poatersgat, de republiek and bar des amis.
