Experience in Bremen, Germany by Maria
How do you find Bremen to live in? Do you recommend it? How is it?
I find Bremen a welcoming and charming city to live in. It's not a big city but I think it has a combination of nature and an international atmosphere which make it very adorable.
How is student life in Bremen?
In Bremen, there are 2 Universities and a 'Hochschule'. Because of this, the city has quite a young atmosphere. Being bigger than a normal student city, a wider variety can be found here, although I don't believe that it is fundamentally a university city.
How much does it cost to live in Bremen?
Taking into account that as a student, you can find rooms starting from 200 euros, I think you can live perfectly well for 700 euros a month since food isn't expensive if you go to supermarkets like Lidl, Aldi and Netto... In general, I wouldn't consider Bremen as an expensive city to live in.
Was it hard to find accommodation in Bremen? Can you give any advice
No, because I booked a room in a residence months before. My classmates took a little longer but the University provides enough facilities. I would advice you to look for a flat a few months before arriving in order to have no problems on arrival.
How is the country's food? What are your favourite dishes?
Personally, I like German food. Another issue is how healthy it can be, given that I'm accustomed to the Mediterranean diet and this change is noticeable. The Currybratwurst, Karttofelsalat and in general, any plate with potato (there are a lot of them) are dishes which I love.

Schlachte
And to eat in Bremen? Can you name your favourite places?
I've mentioned some above but they would be: Shuttinger, Vapiano and Hofbräuhaus.
Which places do you recommend to go out to party in Bremen?
It doesn't seem to me that there is much variety to go out to party in Bremen but the Erasmus usually go out to LaViva, Tower and Modernes...
Any advice that you want to give to future students in Bremen?
Bremen is a city that offers numerous opportunities to students - from student, work (small jobs or student jobs) to social (there are many, many international students)... so I advise you to open up to the new and not to close yourself off in groups, which impedes you from seeing what there is, beyond the known.
