Experience in Bremen, Germany by Milena
What is it like to live in Bremen? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?
Actually my University Jacobs is a bit outside of Bremen - 6 stops with the local train, so I spend more of my time on campus. Of course I do go to Bremen from time to time but actually I do not live in the city itself. My overall opinion is that the city is great - not to big to be messy and confused and not too small to be boring.
What is the student lifestyle like in Bremen?
I can share the opinion about Jacobs. Being very international the student life is great as you meet people from all over the world (more than 100 countries) and you get to know different cultures and habits.
How much does it cost to live in Bremen?
Compared to other cities like Munich the prices in Bremen are lower.
Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bremen? Is there any advice you can give?
I live on campus in Jacobs, so I cannot share anything about the accommodation possibilities in Bremen.
What is the food like? What are your favourite dishes?
You can find all kind of food - from typical German sausage and beer style to African cuisine where you sit on the floor on real sand like in the desert and eat with your hands.
What places would you recommend visiting in Bremen?
Of course the center with the old cathedral and the old town are very fascinating, don't miss the statue of the Bremen musicians.
Is it good to eat out in Bremen? Can you tell us your favourite spots?
My favorite spots are the restaurants and cafes along the river Weser.
Is the nightlife good in Bremen? Where is good to go?
Well it is not Paris or Madrid, but there are decent places to go.
What advice would you give future students heading to Bremen?
The city is quite safe, the transportation is perfect, overall a very well organized German town.
