Erasmus Experience in Bremen, Germany by Basia
Why did you choose to go to Bremen, Germany?
It's an interesting city and I could fulfill my purpose there.
How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?
I really only stayed one semester and received 400 euros per month, that's enough to survive and have some entertainment.
What is the student lifestyle like in Bremen?
It's really nice, we have a chance to make new friends. You have to study like in any school, but I think you don't have to exaggerate, and there's always something to do at every night party.
Would you recommend the city and the University of Bremen to other students?
course! It'll be a great experience, so you have to make the most of it.
What is the food like?
Honestly, it wasn't completely to my liking, but like everything else, it depends on each person.
Was it difficult to find your accommodation in Bremen?
Not personally, because I've been living in my family's apartment.
How much does it cost to live in Bremen?
Approximately 400 to 500 euros per month.
Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?
Yes, the university offers some courses, and they are free, or you can try the tandem, in which you learn a language along with technology at the same time.
What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Bremen from your city?
For me the bus was the cheapest transport to get there.
Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Bremen?
Really all the places are nice, but I suggest you take your new friends to visit Ostertorsteinweg, and a Bar with Hot-dogs that is on the corner.
What good cultural sites are there to visit?
I recommend visiting Burger Park, it is beautiful, especially when the weather is sunny.
Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Bremen in the future?
Don't go with your friends. Ideally, make new friends there!
