How's it like to live in Bragança? Would you recommend it? What is the city like?

Bragança is a peaceful city filled with lots of students. I had quite an experience there even though it wasn't by mobility exchange. I had the opportunity to meet a lot of foreigners.

The city isn't too big and everything is close by! The academic environment is very nice and people are generally very helpful as well.

Be prepared to face the cold. Bragança has a very weird weather, especially during the winter. But it should be no problem once you get used to it! My advice - bring warm clothes with you and you should be fine. During the summer, avoid being outside for too long during the day. For me, it was unbearable due to the amount of heat.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bragança?

If you're coming to Bragança as an Erasmus student, you'll have a blast! The ESN community organizes almost every other week events for the foreign students.

The study ethic isn't too demanding... So, if you're planning to party every week, it shouldn't be a problem.

Is it difficult to find accommodation in Bragança? Is there any advice you can give?

Not really... If you're coming to Bragança as an Erasmus student be sure to get in touch with Riskivektor on time. They'll get you a decent flat - 100 euros monthly rent plus other services like Internet, gas, etc.

A lot of Erasmus students complain that there's no central heating, so you'll have to end up using warm clothes or... just buy a heater!

PS: Don't rent any room using the agency "UltimoPillar", utterly the most terrible of choices!

Is it cheap to eat in Bragança?

Yes. IPB's canteen offers decent quality meals starting from just 2. 30 until 2. 85 euros! Generally, eating out isn't too expensive either. The price when you go eating out is different, but the prices can go from 6 to 10 euros.

Is the nightlife good in Bragança?

Where Bragança shines is in regards to parties. Generally, a karaoke club called "Lagoa Azul" is the preference of many, and is also good enough if you want to maximize your party experience with other Erasmus students.

There's plenty of other pubs/clubs open as well and weekly promotions for parties.

What places do you recommend visiting in Bragança?

I would recommend visiting the castle (has a military museum inside), a hike to the mountain (Saint) and the city centre.

ESN also organizes trips to other places in Portugal or in Spain - so don't ever miss on those chances!

What advice would you give to future students heading to Bragança?

No matter the duration of your semester(s), I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Just don't slack on studying, don't be shy and don't miss the great opportunities on going to amazing parties - if you do these three, I guarantee you'll have the best experience ever.
