Hi everyone, I am moving to Bordeaux in August 2017 to study in Sciences Po. I am wondering if someone else is also struggling to make a decision about the housing. I don't know if I should choose the dorm or look for an appaertment. I would appreciate any advices or messages from people in a similar situation :)

Hi!
I am moving to Bordeaux in august 2017 to study to become a sommelier. I have the same problem as Zosia! I want live in the central part of town, but I also want studentlife. Where are you looking for apartments?
Zosia Sikora Written 7 years ago
Hey,
Do you consider living in a dorm? Cuz I think I'll apply for the dorm and if I won't like it I'll start looking for the apartment when I'm there. It's pretty hard to find something when you don't know the city :(

Yes! I want to live in dorm to meet people and such, what dorms are you applying to? I know its superhard find accomidation in august/ september when all the students arrive, so I think its best to book soon. Do you speak french?
Zosia Sikora Written 7 years ago
I'm gonna apply for the Sciences Po dorm in Pessac, it's called Village 3 or sth like this :D yeah it might be super hard to find anything in August or later on. I do speak French a little bit (B1), do you?
Emmy Stiernblad Written 7 years ago
Sorry for answering late!
I understand some french, but my speaking and writing is non existing :(
I have applied to two different flats that I will share with erasmusstudents, and I think I will get at least one of them! When will you arrive in august?
Zosia Sikora Written 7 years ago
That's alright :)
oh where did you find them? Are they expensive?
I think I'll arrive in the middle of August
Emmy Stiernblad Written 7 years ago
I found them on appartager.com and lacartedescolocs.fr. Both are for people that looks for roommates! I have gotten many responses, the hard thing is that many people want you to move in in june or july, but I have fond housing in august:)
Do you know anyone in Bordeaux? I don't know anyone, I have heard that it hard to make friends with french people (since they are embarresed by their bad english) but very easy with other foreigners.

You will be able to get a room in a flat in the city center with other students for 400-600 euro/month. Are dorms expensive? Will you share the kitchen and bathroom with other students?
