Why did you choose to go to Bordeaux, France?

Because I have always liked French language and culture.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

I am staying 6 months, and I received about 1800 euros, which did not cover all my expenses in Bordeaux, since it is a very expensive city to live in.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bordeaux?

As a student I find myself in difficult situations very often; the university is structured very differently and they treat Erasmus students as equals. There is a lot of work to be done, and not much space for mistake.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Bordeaux to other students?

I would recommend it to students who are very interested in what they study, and are willing to work hard (and in French) during the courses.

What is the food like?

There are many different restourants in Bordeaux, so there is a lot of choice.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Bordeaux?

I found my room online so I did not have to pay an agency but it is pretty expensive!

How much does it cost to live in Bordeaux?

Everything is expensive. Groceries, drinking and eating out. I would say that 500 a month just for living is ok.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

There is a really good language course offered by the university, also a really good way of meeting people. The lectures are all in French even if the website said they were in English. The practical workshops (lab) can be in English if requested.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Bordeaux?

La vie Moderne is a great place!

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Bordeaux?

There is a really good Ramen restourant on rue Saint-Catherine.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

I'd reccoment going to La dune de Pilat, Saint-Émilion, Arcachon, La cité du vin.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Bordeaux in the future?

Find a balance between party and study!
