Why did you choose to go to Bonn, Germany?

Bonn is a city of political importance, due to the UN department in the city. Also the university has an excellent reputation for the majority of its departments.

How long is the scholarship? How much money do you receive to help you with living costs?

8 months, I receive aproximately 270 Euros per month.

What is the student lifestyle like in Bonn?

The university is omnipresent, with university faculi buildings spread all over the city, aside from the imposing main building located in the centre. Therefore, the student presence in the city is very prominent. There are many student communities and societies and various parties and events organized regularly.

Would you recommend the city and the University of Bonn to other students?

Certainly.

What is the food like?

Bonn and Germany in general, is very international. Thus you can find countless restaurants German, as well as from numerous other cultures.Chances are you won't miss your local cuisine much. As far as the university canteen, or Mensa, is concerned the food quality and the variety is rather good for the price. I'd say that some restaurants are relatively cheap, but youll have to do your research.

Did it cost you to find your accommodation in Bonn?

The Studentenwek is responsible for student accommodation, but the housing options are limited so the demand for a room in the dormitories is high. I'd recommended to send an application as soon as possible.

How much does it cost to live in Bonn?

Depends on the lifestyle, the groceries and the pubs are rather cheap for the country's living standards, if you look for good deals.

Is the language easy to get to grips with? Are there language courses available at the University?

The university has a wide range of language courses.German can be considered either easy or difficult depending your linguistic background, the majority considers it difficult.

What's the easiest or most economical way to travel to Bonn from your city?

By plane.

Where would you recommend to go on a night out in Bonn?

The old part of the city known as the altstadt, or the city centre.

And for eating? Can you recommend some good restaurants in Bonn?

As mentioned above you can find a wide range of restaurants suited to each taste.

What good cultural sites are there to visit?

Bonn has many museums and as Beethoven's hometown, there are many sites dedicated to the composer. There is also a theatre, thee opera and art gallery.

Is there any other advice that you could give to students going to Bonn in the future?

Keep an eye for the activities organised by the Erasmus student network. Also interacting with other Erasmus students and participating in events will make your experience more pleasant. But also don't hesitate to interact with the locals, event if you don't speak German fluently. You get to learn more about the genuine culture that way.
