Why did you choose Bologna?
Because it is the perfect place to experience the Italian culture.
How long did the scholarship last? How much money were you given?
The scholarship was for 9 months, I only received 4 months worth of a grant (1600 euros). Half of the grant was given in November and the rest in March.
What was student life like in Bologna?
There is a very good student atmosphere in Bologna. People are nice and there are a considerable amount of discounts for university students. In addition, there are lots of parties and of course, every week you can find different activities.
Would you recommend the city and the University?
I would definitely recommend both the city and the university. Winters are cold but despite the weather, it is worth it. Bologna is a small but charming city and a little bit chaotic.
What about food?
The food is excellent! You will definitely put on weight. They have really nice breakfasts, lunch and dinner. Both salty and sweet products are delicious. I totally recommend it!
Did you have trouble finding accommodation in Bologna?
Yes, Bologna is known for being difficult to find accommodation. It is recommended to arrive in August or January to find good accommodation, and at a reasonable price.
How much does it cost to live in Bologna?
Between €300 and €500 a month, depending on how you want to live.
How was the language? Did you go to a university course?
Yes, I learnt Italian at school for most of my life, but Italian is easy to learn.
What is the most economical way to get to Bologna from your city?
Airplane. But it is never cheap.
Which places would you recommend for partying in Bologna?
Millenium, LAB 16, Hobby One.
And to eat in Bologna? Can you name your favourite places?
Empire Pub for the appetisers. Also LAB 16. Café Zamboni. America Graffiti. Pizza House.
Any advice you would like to give to future students in Bologna?
I advise you to take advantage of the trips organised by the erasmus associations. They are totally worth it.
